My favorite holiday season activity is watching my amaryllises bloom. I currently have 31 bulbs and just brought them up into my living room. They love the temp in the living room as the woodstove is running. I already have 1 bulb coming and my record is 36 blooms in 1 year.
Merry Christmas!
There are many wonderful events at Christmas but my most favorite is Christmas Day. After a grand Christmas Eve with the family, they come in their Christmas jammies and we have brunch. This is followed by movies and munching. Laughter and hugs. Not all the family can be here but they do call and they are having a loving Christmas with their families.
God Bless
My favorite Christmas event is on Christmas Eve the whole extended family get together. It’s a time of get caught up with family you do not see much during the year.
My favorite Christmas decoration is my small Christmas tree that I use to showcase my kids homemade ornaments from long ago. They are grown now but I love to see their childhood pictures and hand prints on the tree.
My favorite Christmas decoration is a three piece nativity set given to me by my godchild.
The pieces are ceramic and are painted in deep rich colors with a gloss finish. I have tried to find other pieces of the nativity scene, but it seems as though ceramic pieces are no longer made, mostly just resin. So each year, without fail, I find a safe place to display the nativity to remind us all why we celebrate the holiday.
I have two favorite decorations for the holidays. Snow People. I have enough to cover a large tree and more. I usually add at least one each year. The other favorite is my name … I can find JOY everywhere. I have a couple of those ornaments that hang around all year. 💛🌻🤗
My favorite holiday decoration is luminaries. I grew up in New Mexico and loved making luminaries to put along the sidewalk of our house. On Christmas eve we would all get in the car and drive around looking at the luminaries and Christmas decorations. This is a tradition I have carried with me everywhere I have lived as an adult. My children loved making luminaries. Someday I hope to have grandchildren to share this tradition with.
My favorite Christmas decoration is a ceramic tree my Mom painted years ago. That is the finishing touch to the decorating. I will be hosting Christmas with my family this year and I am done decorating. Now I have to plan the menu!
My favorite event is reading the Christmas story and watching my grand children’s excitement.
My favorite holiday event is our family Christmas Ornament Painting Party. We have done this for 24 years. Our local family is invited over to our house. Everyone can paint up to three ornaments. Some years we have something special. Several years ago my husband cut out wooden Dana horses to honor my mother’s Swedish background. This year our special ornament os a 5” nutcracker. This is a fun time!
My favorite holiday event is a neighborhood Christmas light parade that snakes all around our neighborhood. It is a lot of fun! On my bucket list is to see the Nutcracker live…someday!
My favorite holiday decor is my collection if snowmen figurines I’ve accumulated over the past 40 years. Love to group them all together up higher on my bookcase….otherwise my cats knocks them all down!
I love the Christmas Eve service when silent night is sung by candlelight
Every Thanksgiving we pick the day, usually in about 2 weeks, to make tamales. It’s labor intensive so we make a lot! Then we freeze them until Christmas morning. This year, my mom is flying out for Christmas but will be here for Tamale Day December 18!
My favorite holiday event is putting up the outside lights and turning them on for the first time in the season. I smile every afternoon when I plug them in. I also love fruitcake so the first slice every year is a treat. CA Bobbie
My favorite Xmas decoration is my handmade nativity scene. Happy Holidays.
My wonderful angel. collection comes out every Christmas – and it totally makes me connect with friends from the past, my mom, and my own crafts – all of which contributed to this collection. It is one of my favorite times to reminisce,
My favorite Christmas event is putting up the decorations around the house and baking some cookies and making some fudge.
It feels like Christmas to me when I bake cut out sugar cookies. My favorite thing at Christmas is my Nut Crackers all over the house.
Hi Pat, It’s hard to pick just one when it comes to Christmas decorations.😊 But if I have to choose… it would be the Nativity scenes. The coming of Christ is the Real reason we celebrate.❤
My favorite Christmas decoration is my nativity set that my mom gave me 50 years ago.
I had a local carpenter make me a stable. It’s the first thing I put out and the last thing I put away.
Good evening! My favorite Christmas decoration is my Grandmother’s nativity that she hand painted. I love unpacking it and remember Christmas past and all of the blessing in our lives.
My favorite Christmas decoration I’d Santa Land. Loading my Tahoe full of neighborhood kiddos and going off to see the drive thru Christmas decorations . Nothing like seeing Christmas through a child’s eyes and hearing the ohhs and awwss.
My favorite holiday event is spending time with my 3 boys. When they were growing up I made cinnamon rolls for breakfast on Christmas morning and we enjoyed sharing our favorite things about the year that was just about to end. Sometimes their favorite memories were playing in a state soccer championship game or a special role in a show choir event. Throughout the years they shared things that were memorable to them and managed to surprise me with things like “spending time with…” or “helping… with their garden”, etc. They are grown now, but we still have this tradition which I absolutely love. It’s a time to reflect, laugh and be happy!
My favourite holiday event is when magical my house is decorated for Christmas, this is something my husband enjoys doing and I really enjoy viewing his work !
My favorite Christmas decorations – when my grand children were small – the whole family got together for Thanksgiving and Christmas. At Thanksgiving I would let the grandchildren decorate the tree. I would put the lights on and decorate the top of tree and they would decorate the bottom. They really enjoyed decorating what they could reach.
We don’t celebrate Christmas anymore because a much love member of our family died at Christmas several years ago and it just brings back distressing memories. However, when we did celebrate it, the things I most enjpoyed were decorating a living tree; the smell of fresh pine inside the house; and seeing the joy the presents we gave to others brought.
COOKIE DAY!!!!🎄Every year the family gets together to bake our favorite Christmas cookies. Such a great tradition with 3 generations of fun!!
my favourite is when the grandchildren see the christmas tree all lit up at night.
My favorite Christmas event is Christmas Eve service. It always includes lots of carols & ends with all the congregation holding candles, lights turned off, & singing “Silent Night”. It never fails to thrill!!
I love holiday baking and making goodies from my childhood but my favorite, favorite event is when the tree first goes up and that night turning off the lights in the room and lighting the tree. It is so magical. Every night after, the tree is the last thing I turn off at night. I’m always so sad when times comes to take it down and my house is just a plain jane again until next December.
My favorite Christmas decorations are the Santa’s and Snowmen I hang on my tree! Thanks , Pat for a fun year!! Looking forward to another great & fun year following you! Merry Christmas!!
My favorite Christmas decorations is the plastic canvas village pieces that my Grandma Hatch made for me 40 years ago. She made me 7 buildings and the most important was the church. This was the center of her life and she passed those beliefs onto her family. I enjoy putting my village out each year and have wonderful memories of her.
I always display my collection of Santas.
My favorite decoration is my nativity scene. My husband and I bought it for our first Christmas in 1971. We had very little money but managed to buy it at Sears. It has graced our home for 50 years. My husband passed away in 2017 and unpacking it every years is a reminder of him.
I have some old ornaments that belonged to my mother in law. They are glass with designs and glitter. Love them.
My favorite xmas event is getting together with my kids and grandkids. I love it.
I know exactly how you feel. I am 68 and I have decorations I made out of christmas cards and glitter when I was in elementary school.
My favorite Christmas decoration is a star made out of straw. It is a Scandinavian pattern, simple but beautiful.
My favorite decoration is when I get my little villages on the fireplace mantel. You can imagine what all the little people are doing? The Grandkids and Great-Grandkids all love it!
My favorite Christmas decorations are the decorations I made as a child and the blue glass “Noel” ball that has a snowy winter scene on it. Even though I have a small table topper artificial tree this year, my decorations from childhood give me over 60 years of happy memories.
My favourite decorations are ones my sister and I made when we were children. We hadnt seen them nor recalled them in years. Following my mothers passing in 2019 we found them safe in a box in the ceiling space of her home.
My favourite christmas event these days is cherrishing the time with my sister and my niece and nephew. We are the only family left.
My favorite holiday decorations and events is Christmas Lights. I have always liked riding around and seeing the Christmas lights. Now I get to share this with my grandchildren.
The most meaningful event of the holiday season is Midnight Mass at our Parish. My late husband was Minister of Music and many times brought in string quartets or guest soloists from the community, and also wrote their music. I was cantor and soloist for our Parish, and it is Very meaningful.
My favorite Christmas is big Christmas tree in window with the light flashing. I don’t do it and more because it’s no one but me now. No lights, no tree.
My favorite Christmas decoration is a ceramic tree with lights, it reminds me of my grandma.
I enjoy seeing my son and daughter-in-law’s house when they get all of the decorations up. Plus seeing my 3 yr. old grandson’s face light up with delight!
My favorite holiday decoration is a wax Santa candle that my Grammie bought for us the first Christmas in our home in 1974 when our son was 1 yr old. It has broken once, so I melted a bit of the wax with a match and stuck it back together…has survived every Christmas since. I loved my Grammie and she was so excited to have us living next door on the piece of land she deeded to us that year. Miss her every day!!
My husband is in charge of our tree and decorations. I get joy from his love of the holiday and the decorations. He starts after everyone leaves on Thanksgiving evening.
Now our 6 yr. old grand-daughter helps him..
My favorite Christmas decoration is a Precious Moments girl holding a poinsettia. My husband surprised me with her, early in our marriage, back when we didn’t have two cents to rub together. He had sacrificed his lunch money to buy her <3
