When I designed this sew along a 'Quilted Garden' was my inspiration. Week by Week we built the blocks that filled our quilt. Now we have a wonderful cottage garden!

If you love this fabric and want to make some companion items to your quilt, grab another kit while they are still available. I love this combo so much and can see it used for placemats, pillows, and a table runner.
** BUY the fabric for the asymmetrical layout
THE DOWNLOAD is ALWAYS at the end of my article HIGHLIGHTED IN PINK, so keep reading
TIP:
- I carefully folded this fabric up so that I could cut all 4 of the pinwheel light fabrics. I really used up a ton of the fabric for this sew along.

TIP: Fabric Selection
- Using my Gemini die cut machine for this entire quilt gave me a huge appreciation for the time saving of cutting triangles.
- I cut
- Sew
- Press.
- PERFECT block (if your 1/4" seam is spot on)
- No trimming or squaring up, and the dog ears are eliminated by the die cut, Brilliant!
BUY A GEMINI Die Cut machine, I love mine!
Article continues below these Amazon Goodies

TIP: Fabric Selection
- For the heart block I used a light fabric that I had enough of for the squares.
- The rest of this word text will be cut into 2.5" squares and put into My 'bonus' squares scrap storage bin by color for making 'quilts as I make other things' See my tutorial on that HERE

TIPS:
- Audition your square for directional fabric BEFORE sewing.
- Fold it back and check, so easy to do!

Your blocks are done, ready for doing the layout!

GOAL
- Here is what I have left from my working bundle.
- When the layout pattern came out in February I cut my green sashing and white border units and put them in a bag to use at the end.
- The rest of the fabric I can pick from to do the 4patch units
- The smaller pieces will be cut into 2.5" squares.
- I'll use the green for binding!

Next week I'll post to share your quilt top and leave that open for a month so everyone has time to get the top made. I will just be getting back so I may not have mine totally done, but will update when I do!
You can see Norm (Kit & Pattern HERE) on the left side with my tulips .. can't wait to work on this again!
I also announced the Next Sew Along, get the detail HERE

Yes, you should do more impromptu chats. Love seeing your quilt. I still have to put the border on mine. I just bought it. I have to admit, borders are my kryptonite. I think its a boring process. I will eventually send a picture.
yeah Lois!
Thank you so much Sharon!! I’m excited you nailed your HST and are having fun with my projects. What a wonderful thing to also find a new love, wish you both the very best!
I’m ready for summer too!
thank you!
Wow Denise!!! I’m so excited for you!!!
Well, life sometimes throws you a curve ball and as a result I had not even started my quilt from either of this years quilt alongs, but on Wednesday I pulled out a bag of black & cream leftovers and thought “yes I can make these stretch” so I set to and cut out the first five blocks. To cut my story short by Saturday evening all 20 blocks were sewn and assembled. Now all I have to do is join all four sections, put on borders, quilt and bind. I didn’t get much of anything else done but by Monday my quilt will be ready for quilting. Had to add an extra 2” strip to the blocks as I didn’t read the layout completely before making the blocks for directional fabric but I think it’s great. Photos to follow.
Hi Pat, this was a great sew along.Thank you so much. Am looking forward to the Main St sew along.
Vikky (Western Australia)!!
I LOVED this challenge!!! I used spring floral fabrics and accents and now I’m ready for summer!!! And I am looking forward to the Main St sew along!!! Thanks Pat~!
This is the first sew along I have done with you and am enjoying it so much and have learned so much. I have always had a major problem with half square triangles, no points, but since I followed your instructions for them they now have points and I am a happy person. I am behind on my Flower Bouquet blocks due to another project I had to work on but will catch up on it soon I hope, also working on Out of this World blocks. I didn’t expect to like them so much as I usually make full quilts but really get bored with doing the same block over and over. I am sure that is why my UFO basket is so full. Doing different blocks is making me look forward to each time a new one is out. The Oh My Stars is a favorite of mine and looking forward to making many more of them. Thank you for getting my quilting renewed I am enjoying it more then ever. By the way love your new line of fabric and can’t wait for it to come out, my kind of prints and colors.
Would just like to figure out how you find the time for everything you do. Thanks again for everything you do for me and so many other quilters. We are all blessed to have you.
