From the first time I heard of a 'Master Gardener' I was intrigued. What was that? How did one become a 'master'?  If you are one, or know one, leave me a comment!

I have another tutorial on selecting fabric colors today, this time I tossed out a piece and replaced it.

If you love this fabric and want to make some companion items to your quilt, grab another kit while they are still available.  I love this combo so much and can see it used for placemats, pillows, and a table runner.

TIP:

  • Put your dies on an angle, I think it makes the metal sheet last longer

BUY A GEMINI Die Cut machine, I love mine!

TIP: Fabric Selection

  • This is such an easy block to mockup what the 'weave' will look like. Fold your fabric into strips and 'weave' them into an audition piece.
  • Take a look and notice how some blocks are stronger colors. And those are great options.
  • One with the collage fabric, middle left, is not enough contrast for the block, you'll lose the weave effect.
  • In the end I selected the lightest one as that is the feel of the block I wanted for this quilt

TIP: Fabric Selection

TIPS:

  • I had precut my final setting strips. Then when I made my weave block it would not work next to the setting strip as the fabric is in the block and touches it, which loses the block image.
  • So that reject strip was cut into 2.5" squares and put into My 'bonus' squares scrap storage bin by color for making 'quilts as I make other things'  See my tutorial on that HERE
  • I switched to the Gray Polka dot and it was much better.

  2. Last Sunday I got my first seed in the ground. So excited to see them grow. I planted beet, carrot, melons, cucumber and zucchini. I am so please with my quilt and the way it is coming together. 6. Hi, Pat, I am not a master gardener but I inherited my grandmother’s “green arm-according to my uncle.” I love to plant flowers and sit on the patio and enjoy the three seasons of flowers and growth. I don’t plant vegetables anymore due to back problem, but that doesn’t stop me from quilting a flower garden. Thanks for all the great blocks and quilts. I have your applique book and I just love it and making wallhangings and other appliqued work.

  7. I am definitely not a gardener. I tend to kill plants. I currently have a grow your own cactus that was gifted to me that is doing pretty well. If I can’t keep a cactus alive I think I will just give up and stick to “growing” quilts. At least ibknown I am good at that.

  8. Hi Pat! I am a Master Gardener Volunteer through the Ohio State University Extension. It begins with a sincere interest in helping others and our environment. 11. After a year long training I became a Master Gardener in my community. After training you get involved in lots of volunteer opportunities to share your knowledge with the community. Annual training classes keep you abreast with your field.
