Block Wednesday!

My theme this week is picking flowers, which might be the BEST part of being a gardener right? Go out to your own flower beds and pick a vase full of blooms!  Divine! I have an old splatterware jug that belonged to Gregg's grandmother. I fill it each spring.

We also have the next set of small blocks, so fun!  This is a PERFECT time to use up smaller pieces to make a scrappy block. Keep reading to see my tips and the section together, then the Download for my pattern this week is in PINK

TIPS FOR DIE CUTTING

  • Always move your dies around so that you don't keep cutting on the same section.
  • I've found that when I angle the die on the shim it does a few things. First it more evenly distributes the die across the roller that is pressing to cut the fabric. Which means it won't be as loud.
  • It also creates more even pressing areas on the shims so that you don't have a hard line. That keeps the shims from bending as much.
  • I live with an engineer, he had to play with this to figure it out. it's what they do.. they can't help themselves. Do you know an engineer? Then you know what I mean!

** BUY A GEMINI Die Cut machine, I love mine! **

  1. Pat, so looking forward to your new book. I have so many Christmas quilts. I’d like a nice fall quilt. One with all the rich colors of fall. We don’t really have a fall season in Texas but I can pretend with a quilt!
    Linda

  2. I could use a spring quilt. Something with pretty colors and maybe flowers to brighten up the apartment.

  3. I need to do more summer projects. I love your books. I have most if not most of them.
    Happy Creating

  4. I did your In The Summertime, so I have one for summer. I’m finishing up Merry and Bright So Winter is good…but then again you can always use more! But I think a spring quilt would be great!

  5. I have lots of seasonal quilts I decorate with during specific holidays/ seasons. I think I could use monthly themes in general not so much Christmas but the months of January, March and August could use some attention. Thanks for asking.

  6. I need to make more things for spring and summer! I love the colors of fall and winter but I need to start expanding and make brighter runners and quilts for my house.

  7. I just started pulling out my Spring decorations and I see I’m sorely in need of some springtime table runners and other cute quilty things. Of course, I’m also a sucker for fall and winter (and summer’s not so bad either!).

  8. Any type of quilts. I am having fun making your blocks. Thank You. It has helped me come out of my shell more and reach out. I am so thankful I am part of your group

  9. Good Morning Pat . . . I do need Summer Quilts . . . I have lots of Christmas (and will make more) but I guess to be honest, Spring and Summer. Your blocks and quilts are amazing. You have increased my level of quilting and happiness while doing it. Thank you so much 🙂

  10. I would like a quilt and table runner for the fall….something fresh and cheerful! I’m thinking bonfires, raking leaves, apple pie, kettle corn, mums… I’m ready! Lol

  11. Fall anything! Love fall quilts and wall hangings!!! Thanks for the chance to win…and for all you do!!!

  12. I need to make a Fall quilt, maybe this will be the year! I’ve been wanting to make a leaf quilt in all the pretty Fall colors. My big dream is to make a scenic quilt of mountains in Fall quilts. Maybe someday.

  13. I most definitely need a fall table runner! Thanksgiving & Christmas especially come to mind! Thank you, Susan

  14. I need quilts for all seasons. I do not own any of the 20 plus quilts I have made. I always make them for everyone else. Even when I start one for myself, if someone says they like it, I usually give it to them. I do have a few table runners that I’ve managed not to give away, but that’s it.

  15. I need Summer quilts. I love the other seasons, too, and have several of each of those seasons. Definitely need summer.

  16. I need more spring quilts, I have many fall and Christmas quilts, it is time for spring colors

  17. I need more summer quilts and wall hangings – I love your tulip pattern! I change out my quilts and wall hangings with the seasons and sometimes more often than that.

  18. Catching up – Caught Up – Another block is out! LOL
This is such a rewarding joy learning, quilting, making quilts you knew you just couldn’t do it but its done. Thank you for all you do!!

  19. What do I need to make more of…summer things. Since it is so hot in Texas I tend to make items for the cooler seasons..wishful thinking!?! Must say in all honesty, I love making things for all seasons..any reason to quilt.

  20. I need a quilt for all seasons…not one in particular…. I’ve only finished 2 quilts ..one was a gift and the second is for my camper. I need a bunch of everything..lol

  21. I need to work on a tablerunner for summer and winter (past Christmas). Thanks for the great ideas your book provides!
