All this wild and crazy weekly sewing… makes you really stop to think about how you do things right? I find I MUST store my fabric together for projects or I go nuts looking for it. A few people asked me about the storage container I use, I like these bins that stack really nicely and the blocks lay in them perfectly!

My goal is to make simple blocks for this quilt. I will be sharing the layout very soon.. and I have a little twist for those who really just want 12" blocks.. I'm going to help you out.. but CHALLENGE you to do the quilt I'm making.. come with an open mind to the next post on Saturday!

Let me tell you how this block happened.
When cleaning my studio I found stacks of red & cream based 5"squares from my fabric lines. I have NO IDEA why I had these. So I started turning them into 4" finished HST. There are quite a few. By adding a few more I can have a lap quilt.. seriously! At 4"finished squares a quilt grows fast AND you bust a LOT of scraps that way.
TIP – have smaller scraps? sew them together for 'new fabric' and cut 5" squares form them.I have you this layout & another in your PDF this week.. FUN!!

First I have to say that you must really love doing half square triangles. My second question is I love the layout of the bonus quilt and want to make it for my daughter for her wedding. Can you tell me how much fabric I would need to buy if I wasn’t going to do it scrappy? I am thinking of three colors at most.
Finally almost caught up on solstice blocks
Looking forward to finished project. Thank you Pat for sharing. I would share my blocks but don’t know how to post pictures.
I see and can download the first layout. How do I see or find the second one, please? Thank you
I love the asymmetrical layout and want to use it. I kind of like (well, really like) quilts that are either off-center/wonky or made with different sizes. Catches the eye and satisfies the quirkiness in this 80 year old mind. Looking forward to finishing this quilt. Thanks so much for sharing, Pat.
Why is it that when I click on a photo link of someone’s block it takes me back to this page and not to the person who is putting it up page.
This, and so many of your others, is so much fun. You sure keep us busy. LOL
Scraps are my favorite and I have plenty. VBG
Gosh Barbara I don’t know why. I suggest you change devices & browsers. If that does’t work contact your local tech support. So many technology interface I can’t know them all. good luck!
I cannot open #7. Every time I try to open each one, it gives me a hard time and takes forever to get to the print out page.
Help
i can’t wait to see some quilts from them!
you are so welcome!

Thank you for joining me Tammy!
i looked at your history in my notice system and all the emails are sent, but you are not opening them.
So either MSN is not giving you the email
or they are in your spam… check it out.. and good luck!
Audrey I’m not sure what that means? change devices, change browser or you may have to contact your local tech support.
Hi Pat, I LOVE this block. I think it is my second favorite so far. I think my favorite is the appliqued block, and the cobblestone was second but this one took over. The problem now is, I had to make the cobblestone scrap quilt to reduce some of my scraps but now I HAVE to do this one because it is beautiful!!
Pictures to follow on facebook and instagram.

ps if anyone wants to email me on how to post a picture here that would be awesome!
Opps doing both challenges with you. The curious George comment was meant for the other page. 😊
We also read a lot of Curious George in our house. My son’s favorite was George Flies a Kite.
Enjoying the journey as we tick off the weeks of winter, my Niece has been strongly hinting that she likes my blocks and this quilt would make a fabulous gift for her.
Love the layout you gave us!
These are great blocks Pat! Thanks for sharing all of these patterns and ideas with us. You are appreciated!
Please help, I keep getting message. Something went wrong.
I am not receving the email with the solstice block of the week. Before today I could go on Facebook and get it but today it won’t let me copy it I joined the group and put in to get the news letters that I also never get. I really want to get block #7 Please help.
Pat, I love this new square! I love the HST and the variety of ways they can be used. Looking forward to see what layout you suggest . . . thank you again!
