It will feel odd to finish up this sew along. Last block is next week, then we'll talk about possible ways to put on a border.
Our next sew along is 'Summer Soiree' starting July 7 (details at the END )
Spring is swooshing into summer this week and it feels wonderful to take a walk without long sleeves! The cicadas will be hanging around for a few more weeks, this once every 17 year event is interesting. So far not as bad as the first year we had them 34 years ago. A neighbor thought the same.

**IN LOVE! **
I am IN LOVE with this thread cutter! It uses your old rotary cutter blades, that's right, it does! It's cute, comes in a ton of colors and you can switch the blade to new spots, it's brilliant!

**Next Block Wednesday **
This sew along theme is inspired by a 'Summer Soiree'.
soi·rĂ©e /swĂ€ËrÄ/
"The definition of a soirée is a gathering or get-together, especially a posh or elegant one. A soiree is an elegant and intimate affair. It is an evening party held in a private house. While ambient music plays, guests engage in a variety of private conversation."
Doesn't that sounds like fun for a summer night? Each week our block will have a theme of something to do with an evening party!

***Fabric I'm using***
I'm using the Figs & Shirtings fat quarter bundle + background fabric from my friend Joanna. You will have some left over. I am so excited about using this fabric! I love that splash of black!

I think you have to be a resident or former resident of California to be able to pronounce Teh-HATCH-a-pea Railroad Loop correctly. It’s not easy learning all those ‘different’ names. Like Te-MECK-u-la, and La-HOY-yeah (LaJolla) among others.
Love your videos and combinations of fabrics. Makes me more adventuresome with putting different prints and colors together. Thank you for all you do for building ‘quilt confidence’ in all quilters. AND encouraging us to USE THOSE SCRAPS! :o)
I like the dark version! My husband and I really are not game people but we love to play childrenâs games with grandchildren and our friends kids!
If you like dark edges to draw the dark components out but want definition for the dark blocks near the edge, why not do a thin border of light then wider border of dark. Bit like your Heart quilt in your Quilt Gallery.
I like the light background best as you can see the bow ties….They get lost on the dark one, all you see is the back ground…..Thanks for all you do for us, enjoy your daily visits…..
The game that is most popular in our family from great-grandparent to great-grandchildren and every one in between is Mexican Train dominoes. It helps with color coordination and math skills.
I bought that great thread cutter while on a shop hop! It is great. I am going to buy a 2nd one so that I can have one at home and one with my travel (retreat/class) supplies!
I think it looks better with the light background. The dark makes the tie recede so you don’t notice it just the dark background.
For children the game that we have been playing a lot with my granddaughters is life Junior and itâs been a blast play in for an adult game I think it would probably have to be phase 10 card game I love playing it and so does my sister we get quite competitive with it.I am also a big monopoly fan player
Yep light works for me
Prefer the light background. Seems to go better with the rest.
I love the light background. It looks best because it is next to block 19 that has the predominant dark corners. I love this quilt!
I like the light background as it makes the bowties pop better than the dark background. I love this block a lot.
