The Random picker decided my Logcabin quilt should live with Joann S who said
"My favorite quilt is the first quilt I ever made! My daughter wanted to learn to quilt and she convinced me to take a couple of classes at our fabric store – I was only mildly enthusiastic about quilting – even though I had been a sewer for years. I decided to check out additional classes for us at my local quilt shop and there on the wall was this wonderful quilt with birds on branches. When I asked about it – they told me they were having a retreat the following weekend to make this quilt! I signed up -( my daughter couldn’t attend for family reasons). I made that quilt, which I adore ( it hangs in my sewing room!). Since making that quilt, I am completely hooked on quilting! I had heard people talk about quilting as an addiction, but didn’t understand it until then. This was the quilt that got me to become a quilter!"
Congratulations Joann! I've emailed you

One of my favorite Fall quilts..Tapestry by Wings and a Prayer..my neighbor loaned me her pattern..just love it..it was a little challenging..but that made it so fun..I just used my stash and it turned out beautiful..
My favorite finished quilt is Cherry Crunch by Bonnie Hunter. Reds and neutrals. Would love to win your quilt. Thanks for the opportunity
My favorite quilt is my Bargello in Blue and green batiks. The kicker was my friend wanted to do the bargello class which I was not really interested in but I knew she would go to a class I wanted to take. I went to a fabric store with my pattern and asked them to pick fabrics for me. When I came back they had batiks pulled and I didnt care for batiks but had not told them that so I just bought them. WOW!! Was I ever happy with the end result. Its the ❤️
My favorite quilt is the first big one I made with pinwheels. I learned the importance of an accurate 1/4 in. seam & values in color. I learned to match points. And I practiced machine quilting on it. It’s far from perfect but it was an accomplishment for me.
I have completed two quilts. One was Kimberbell’s Cup of Cheer that I gave to my granddaughter last year. My other quilt, my favorite, was a charm pack of Koi Pond fabric from Ruby Star. It’s my favorite because I love koi and a have a pond full, and it was the first quilt I completed.
My favorite quilt was one I made for my husband out of flannel. It feels so cozy. It was a square in a square pattern but all scrappy. I actually had made a bunch of blocks and put them away for awhile and then forgot about them. When I found them again a few years later I could not believe there was enough to make the quilt. Got so excited I finished it all up!
My favorite quilt I have finished is a baby quilt with an animal panel and minky backing. I would love to own one of your quilts. I love your videos and the people you have for friends.
My favorite quilt, I made for my Dad, Courthouse Steps, by Elinor Burns.I made it in patriotic colors, to honor his time in the Navy. I posted it, few years ago when you requested patriotic quilts. Was gently worn, when it was returned to me, and I love it more.
My favorite quilt is called Women’s Voices of the Civil War. It was a Block of the Month that I did several years ago when I first started quilting. The patterns were templates, but I converted them to squares, triangles, rectangles, so I could rotary cut the pieces. I loved the hunt for fabrics to make each block. Sampler quilts have been my favorites for my entire quilting life.
My favorite quilt is whichever one I just finished.
My favorite quilt so far is a scrappy quilt with a pillow to match. It was made from vintage looking scraps and as I was sewing it I just fell in love with it more and more. It is always displayed on my sofa and I still love it today as much as when I made it years ago. It was simple but beautiful and one of the quilts I can say I will never give to anyone. Your log cabin quilt is beautiful congratulations on hitting 100k!
My lilac quilt that I made out of my Big Blocks Quilt book. I love lilacs and had found the fabric and then the pattern in that book.
I made my first quilt was made out of bunny blocks that my grandma had hand embroidered before she passed away in 1975. My eldest son, born in 1979, was the first to use it. Then my youngest son used it and every one of my 4 grandkids have also used it.
Oh boy, this is hard! I guess my favorite are the different basket quilts I’ve made. I love the vintage look!
My favorite quilt I made was a disappearing nine patch that I made for my son and his bride. There was such a story behind the quilt of getting the fabric, running out of the fabric, searching for more fabric to match, a rush to get it quilted and all the people involved to get it done. There was a lot of laughter around the whole process that made it extra special as a gift.
My favorite quilt is Paradise in Bloom, which I just got back from the spa. It is a Quiltworx pattern using both paper piecing and appliqué. I love it!
My most favorite quilt is one I made several years ago in a block of the month using French General red fabrics. My family will have you draw straws I guess for it when I am gone.
My favorite quilt is actually the quilt I am working on right now! It is a sampler quilt: Vintage Farm Girl #2. I love the challenge and variety. It will be gifted to one of the families that rents the ground on our family farm in northwest Illinois.
My favorite so far was the baby quilt I made for my sister’s first great granddaughter. It was a Sun Bonnet Sue. I used Pink Ribbon fabric for sister, john Deere for the 2 grandpa farmers, ABC print for the grandma who was a Speech teacher and USA fabrics for the Daddy who was in the
My favorite quilt is my first quilt. I made it as a lap quilt for her. It was what I have learned is called a whole cloth quilt. It has birds on branches that I just added a back to and stitched straight lines down the length of it. Stitched on a binding and called it done. Simple, but still a favorite.
Hi Pat! Love your videos! My favorite quilt I made is called Autumn Splendor. Made with pieced blocks of maple leaves. My favorite season is fall! It hangs in my sewing room. I completed it in 2007.
My favorite quilt is Lori Holt’s Farm Girl Vintage quilt I made for my daughter’s 55th Birthday. Of course, after quilt I make, I say that one is my new favorite.
My favourite quilt that I have made is the Gentlemen’s Agreement that I made for my sister out of red and black ombre fabrics.
My favorite quilt is a Christmas sampler quilt from 2021 made using regular piecing, paper piecing & applique. I liked that the blocks challenged me; and, of course, the fabric was for Christmas. Thanks so much for the chance to win your beautiful quilt, Pat!
My favourite first quilt is my cat quilt that I still use on my bed. I’ve been sewing along and learning from you since the early days … I got one of your early books to learn how to quilt my first quilt … I continue to learn from your sewing tips … You have the best tips for sewing quilts. You have also come a long way since your early days … I am proud to have been learning & growing along with you. You are the very best … I watch your daily video’s and still sew along with your Block Wednesday’s. I learned so much sewing along with you during Splendid Sampler 100 blocks; it was difficult & exhausting to keep up, but I made it through with the help & support of yourself & Jane & all those who sewed along with the Splendid Sample project. It would be amazing if you & Jane could do a 3rd Splendid Sample project; I feel that I’ve improved a lot since the SS project. Your daily & weekly video’s and quilting projects have helped me get through some very tough times over the years. I appreciate all that you have shared and taught us all. You are the very best; kind & thoughtful, professional. Thankyou for all that you do!
My favorite quilt is my second finished quilt that I made for my mother in 2003. It was a queen-sized Log Cabin quilt that I hand quilted. I purchased the fabric from a local variety store and still remember the print of the fabrics I selected. I borrowed books from the library on how to construct a log cabin quilt and one of them said to make the center square gold because it meant friendship, so that’s what I did. I was so proud that she put the quilt on her bed. I’ll always remember that ‘special’ quilt that I gifted to my mom.
My favorite quilt is the one I made for my BFF, we have been friends for over 25 years and have shared the love of sewing, Halloween for costume making and cats. So when I made her a quilt it was dedicated to our friendship together. I made sewing blocks out of Halloween and cat fabric, I made cat blocks out of sewing and Halloween fabrics and I made Halloween blocks out of cat and sewing fabrics, it turned out so wonderful and the back I made a big heart out of the label and a bunch of pictures of us together printed on fabric and place among other squares of fabric. She loved it and mentions it every time we hang out. Congrats Pat, you deserve everything you receive
My favorite quilt was my 99 Red balloons that I made for a music themed contest. I made 99 different classic blocks and set them into 99 hot air balloons on the quilt.
My most favorite finished quilt is the Sweet Childhood Memories. A couple of reasons why this is so …
1. This was the first QAL I actually completed within the time frame! I looked forward to the what & how of each week’s block design. I was excited for each Wednesday.
2. My Darlin L O V E S this quilt! It’s still hanging in our dining/kitchen area where the quilt can be seen from the living area. Receive many compliments from both family & friends. I impressed myself with this quilt project 💝
One of my favorite finished quilts is Star of Bethlehem quilt. I do love the Log Cabin quilt that you made and would love to give it a new home.
Hi Pat,
My favorite quilt is my first quilt “Sweet Childhood Memories”.
The quilt I’m most happy with I started in 1987 and finished it in 2017. It is in blue, yellow and white florals. I believe it was the first ‘real’ quilt I made and it was the Lone Star pattern, (nothing like starting with a hard one!) I finished it in an octagon shape because I didn’t know how to square the corners properly. I retired in 2014 which is when I really started to learn how to quilt but still hadn’t seen any tutorials on how to finish it to make it square. In the end it is one of my very favorite quilts, in part because of the shape. My daughter has it and she will pass it to her oldest daughter. Thank you for all the information you give quilters!
My favorite quilt…hmmm. I think i would have to say is a small one i made from 1800 repros. I hand quilted it and it just draws me to cozy and calm. Truth be told however…i pretty much like any quilt I actually finish to completion.
Thanks for all you do. Watching your videos is one of the fun joyful parts of my day.
My favorite quilt is a scrap vomit quilt that I made using alot of my saved 2 1/2 inch squares. It is a twin size that I really enjoyed making and love to use. I would love to win your quilt and the signed book, what a great way to celebrate 100K.
My favorite quilt I have made is from a pattern called Two Fabric Bargello by Susie Weaver. I used a kit that had red purple Gelato Ombré fabric by Maywood Studio and a print called Effervescent in Boysenberry by Robert Kaufman that has lots of purples, pinks, turquoise blues, and whites. I used the Lighting Bolt layout to make a 49” x 60” quilt.
It it also one of the first quilts that I used a long arm machine and an Edge to Edge pantograph “Caliente” on. This striking quilt is on display on my Quilt Ladder in my living room so I can enjoy it every day.
Hi Pat,
I love this question! My favorite quilt is one I made during lockdown. I started out with 2.5″ strips of fabric and then sewed them together, and then cut them into 2.5 strips again and sewed them to gether. it ended up being a queen size. I then went to my local fabric store, took a longarm class and quilted it myself.(after lockdown.)It has over 50 differen fabrics. All of them vintage. Some I’m not sure how old they are. My daugher, loves the vintage feel. It was so fun to make. Usually I don’t do something SO scrapy
Thank you for your kindness,
Francine
My favorite quilt is a T-shirt quilt I made for my son Anthony’s graduation from the University of Colorado in 2009. I incorporated T-shirts from every school he attended – elementary through college. I didn’t have a T-shirt from his middle school so I called to see if they had some for sale. The Principal was so touched by what I was making, she gifted me the T-shirt. My son is 36 now and still uses his School T-shirt Quilt and that is why it’s the favorite quilt that I made.
My favorite quilt is Slanting Stars from Fons and Porter. I made it during the two years I cared for my dad and finished it after he passed. It is made with homespuns that reminded me of all the plaid shirts and shorts he wore during his lifetime. To this day it is the most cherished quilts I made and a wonderful memory of my dad!
The quilt I made that i love most is called Autumn Fences from the September/October 2012 issue of McCall’s Quilting magazine and designed by Sherri Bain Driver.
I have so many “favorites!” One that I really enjoyed making was Pat’s”Home is…”. It was my first sampler quilt. I used pinks and I had so much fun picking fabric and piecing the blocks.
My favorite quilt was using a minion panel for my grandson.
OMGosh! Picking one favorite out of all the quilts over all of the years is near to impossible. I have so many favorites for so many different reasons. If I have to pick, I will pick my WWWW (Wild, Wonderful, Wacky Women) Row Robin that I did with a group of online quilting friends. It was the most amazing experience and all of the gals’ quilts turned out so different and beautifully unique!
Should have read before I posted. It is blues, grays, and soft yellows.
My favourite quilt, is the one I made of our 3 grandchildrens’ portrait. I remember exactly the moment I captured the photo of them. And then wanted to create it into a keepsake to capture those precious childhood memories forever.
Most of my quilts are gifts and my favorite quilt was a birthday gift for a friend as well. I used the “Hey Y’all” panel from Alli K. and surrounded it with the “Sunshine & Posies” flowers pattern by Beverly McCullough. I made the “posies” with two 20 yr old (plus or minus) charm packs called “Dwell” by Urban Chiks and had to fill in with some “Cheeky” by UC that blended perfectly. I also used some of the black on dk grey fabric from “Hey Y’all” for cornerstones and a thin border. It turned out so cute and my friend loved it — as did I.
My favorite quilt I made was one I made for my mom. It was a simple design but featured beautiful red flowers against a black background. She was thrilled and I can still remember the smile she gave me! She has since passed away and the quilt is now mine.
I made a quilt for my daughter for Christmas last year. It has blues, grays, and blues and I think the soft colors blended together so well that it made it very pleasing to my eye. She uses it on her bed every day and sleeps under it every night so it means even more to me to see her loving it as much as I was hoping she would. It is a log cabin design and it turned out so beautiful. Because it was a block type quilt my quilter suggested quilting it to have movement so it has a wave like pattern and is so pretty. Congratulations on reaching 100K! That is such an amazing accomplishment. Thank you for the years of quilt inspiration and your lessons.
It took me 20 minutes to sew each seam because not only was I new but determined to match each piece. Great fun.
My favorite quilt is the Library Quilt from your “Holiday Hoopla” book
That is like asking who your favorite child is! They all mean something to me so I’m going with my last finish which was a Be My Neighbor baby quilt. I enjoy your videos Pat! Thanks so much for all you do for us!
