  1. My current favorite bag is an ByAnnie pattern XL Tote that I made to take things to and from guild and quilt classes.

  2. I have only used Vera Bradley pre-quilted bags. Sometimes I have used them to put a sewing type small project. Most times it is travel related.

  3. Hi Pat, Love and prayers for you and your family as you find your way. I love bags – the bigger the better. I use a lot of 2 gallon ziplocs for project organization, but love the type FQS is offering in your giveaway! I just bought a vintage tablecloth to use as fabric for a market bag. If and when that project is complete, I’m sure it will be a favorite, too.

  4. I love all the bags, am learning slowly to make different types. Thinking of you and your family as you navigate changes.

  5. I learned to love all bags from my dear mother. She passed at 97 and still had her daily crochet in a beach bag from Jersey in the 60s. They are all useful for my unfinished projects and bring back memories

  6. My favorite bags are truly the mesh bags. I only have a few, but love how easy they are to transport projects in with all the needed supplies for that project. Thank you for all the great information that you provide to this community.
On the subject of your mother: As an individual who lost her mother at an early age, I always encourage anyone whose mother is still around and in your lift, take all the time you can since you never know when they will not be here. I still remember seeing her for the last time and knowing I would never see here again on earth. So, take all the time you need to take care of her, FAMILY ALWAYS COMES FIRST. I miss my mother greatly, so enjoy these precious moments that you have. All the rest will fall in place.

  7. I love zippered mesh bags. It helps to keep my projects together from the time I select a pattern and fabric to attaching the binding. Sometimes maybe more than one bag for a project! I would like to enter for the drawing for my sister, these are her colors and she is going through some life changing events herself and needs to know others are there for her.

  8. My favorite bags are the ones I make for myself. Current favorite is the Oxbow Tote made in a canvas print. It is HUGE
and holds loads of items for projects, has interior and exterior pockets, short handles and a long strap. I’ll be taking it on retreat with me later this week!
Regarding your current life challenges, I have been there and I know it is difficult. Carve out at least a little time just for yourself to keep your sanity. I spent lots of time with my parents in the last 3 years of their lives and, as hard as it was at time, (both had dementia), I have never regretted a single second of that time. Hugs to you.

  9. I use a lot of project bags. For cross stitch I like vinyl front bags. For knitting I like cloth bags with a drawstring. For quilting I like plastic bins and tote bags.
Enjoy your family time. Your viewers aren’t going anywhere.

  10. I also like the mesh bags. I don’t have many project bags so this would be a great addition to my sewing supplies.

  11. My favorite bags are those with boxed corners. I also prefer they be fairly stiff and substantial.

  12. First of all I want to send hugs and prayer to you Pat and your mom.
My favorite bag is a Vera Bradley tote that my niece gave me!!! I put in small quilts that I need to finish the binding and take to my Thursday morning quilting group to work on.

  13. Hugs and prayers for your Mom and the whole family. We have been there and it can be tough. I haven’t made any bags yet but hope to try several types. I’m just a beginner quilter since I retired. Thanks for all you do. JO

  14. My favorite bags are the ones I have made with clear plastic front so it can easily see what I have inside.

  15. I love a good bag and so, have many. My favorite is a tote bag made from selvedges, sewn together to make the pieces for the bag. I won the bag (and the sewing/quilting contents) at one of the first Christmas party/meetings for the quilt guild I belong to.

  16. My current favorite bag is a scrap bag I made that holds a the purchased labels I add to quilts – Sarah Hearts, Kati Cupcakes etc. Thanks for the update on your life changes – I understand about the brain space for decision-making, especially when you have a family member in the hospital. One day at a time.

  17. My favorite are the clear or mesh bags, it’s easy to pick out the right one from the pile. Take all the time you need, you won’t get this chance to help again.

  18. My favorite bags are ones with pockets and a zipper close. Pockets to hold special needs and accessories and zipper close so nothing falls out nor gets in. Best wishes for your family as it changes.

  19. My favorite bag is a tote I just designed when I came across a bunch of Laura Ashely toile fabric. I have made about 10 of them – future presents for my quilting buddies.

  20. My favorite bag a friend made with a snap top. I have different sizes, but they hold items and fit flat together which is really handy for taking to retreats. I also have a large tote bag with quilts sayings in patchwork as well as a large outside patch with quilters on a fun shop hop

  21. My favorite bag is the Wilma Tote Bag from the Lotta Jannsdottir book. Sending you good vibes !

  22. My favorite bags are also the mesh bags. They are so lightweight and easy to stuff into hiding places so no one knows what I’m working on.

  23. I love any bag that holds my stuff. The mesh bags are wonderful!
I’m so sorry your family is going through this. It’s not easy. I’m praying
    For you

  24. Definitely had made bags with lots of pockets! So pretty to look and useful when organizing. Wishing you serenity and calmness to enter your life soon.

  25. I don’t really have a favorite bag, but I enjoy using ones that have been given to me or that I’ve purchased on trips. Using them makes me think of the giver or the trip.

  26. My favorite bag is a patchwork lined tote bag my daughter-in-law gave me, and I use it for my crochet and knitting supplies. It’s big and beautiful.
Love to you as you journey with your mom in this season of life

  27. Bags are my favorite thing to make. I love making project bags with the clear vinyl front so you can see what is in it. I usually put a feature fabric so you see it through the window when the bag is empty. I also like to make zipper pouches and small bags in the hoop on my embroidery machine.

  28. Hi, Pat. Hang in there. You have a lot of love supporting you- we miss you, and love you…
My favorite bag to use is a by Annie bag my sister made for me, I use it to show my completed $5 block at my quilt store every month, quick and easy…Also the mesh bags are a great boon.
I’m interested in the Fat Quarter Shop give away …great partner…

  29. I like just about any bag as long as there is enough room in that bag for my project. The mesh bags are #1 in my book. I love the zipper closure and they are cute too. Tote bags are a go-to also. The bags from ALDI can fit my plastic bins nicely. Take care Pat, things will get better.

  30. I made a few clamshell bags in different sizes and keep them on my cutting/work table. They hold my alphabitties and clips. Outside of quilting I like flat bags with zippers across the top. On my most recent trip I used them to hold postcards, stickers, and other things I wanted to keep flat. I use this type bag in my purse to hold loose items so when I change purses or to a backpack I can just move the bag. Good luck with your mom. I am so happy mine lives in a retirement community about 25 min away. Close enough to see her regularly and far enough that we can both have active separate lives. The community does a ton of activities and she has groups of friends to dine with.

  31. Never met a bag I didn’t love. Grocery bags, project bags, zippered bags etc. I buy them, I make them, I love them all.

  32. My favorite bag is the one I made in a class I took at our local quilt shop. If I can find the pattern, I’m going to make more of them as gifts.

  33. I like bags that I can see through… vinyl or mesh. The “snap bags” using metal rulers are kind of fun!

  34. My favorite bags are the mesh bags by Fat Quarter Shop. I love to get them and then cross stitch a design on them. The designs by Shepherd’s Bush work really well for this. The mesh is easy to sew on since it is a big count and more rigid than fabric.

  35. I love the mesh bags from Fat Quarter Shop too!! Some of my friends have even cross stiched little designs right on those bags, which is super cute! That teal color is perfection!!

  36. I love the mesh bags for holding things I’m working on. They are easy to take with you to retreats.

  37. I have maybe a couple mesh bags/project bags. Most of my sets are in zip lock baggies. The mesh bags are much prettier but also an expense I can not afford. But I would greatly love to win this very much
