  1. I have a few favorite bags, one a dear friend made me using cute beach themed fabric, the second one is a Halloween themed bag I made myself, just to see if I could, I quilted it myself and it reminds me to try new things and my last bag is pure sentimental, bought on a trip with my spouse to his home town, it has the name of the town with a bicycle image. My husband recently passed and I am thinking of making a memory quilt and putting this image in the quilt.

  2. My favorite bag is the one I made from a 2.5″ pack of squares I purchased from Liberty Fabrics. It reminds me of my trip to the UK.

  3. My favorite bag is one I made several years ago. It is a mesh bag with fabric on the very bottom. It holds quite a lot but I can also see what is in it. I have several bags but have them filled with upcoming projects.
Hope your mother is getting much better but when we get into our 80’s things don’t go the way we planned. I know it puts a lot of stress into your life trying to deal with all the changes. Take some time for yourself even though that seems impossible at this time. I know what you are going through. I have had problems that my husband took care of and now he is a having problems that I have to do for him as he did for me and our kids help us when they can. We are praying for you and Greg to have the strength to go through this and your mother to get on with her life as best she can.

  4. Since I’m definitely a bag lady, I don’t think I have one favorite!! LOL I make bags, I buy bags and I even put them on my gift wish lists (you know, in case anyone ever asks – LOL).
Pat, I understand how difficult this time in life can be and I wish you all the best in getting your mom settled into her new home and back on a healthy path.

  5. I don’t really have a favorite bag. It depends on what I’m doing. Taking quilts to my quilts for kids group or just bagging up a kit

  6. I love bags but only use them if I’m on vacation. I take my sewing/cross stitch in one and have another over the shoulder bag that I use when we are in a port. I think I would like the mesh ones with the plaid best if I ever get around to getting one. Prayers for you and your mom and family!

  7. Love everything Fat Quarter Shop makes and sells.on another note I hope and pray everything works out for you and your family. You are amazing . Take your time and know we are all here for you.

  8. My favorite bags are all my project bags. I love to make them with both vinyl fronts and all fabric. Take care of you mom and don’t worry about any negative comments!

  9. I love all different types of bags, but I love zippered clear or mesh ones for supplies and projects. I’ve found a tutorial for one that I love and want to make, but so far it hasn’t gotten done. lol

  10. I’ve made a few tote bags to carry my projects. But my favorite is a cosmetic case that I converted to my sewing notions that goes along with my sewing machine to sew with a group. I pray your mom heals completely & very soon.

  11. My favorite bags are 2 1/2 inch patchwork bags. 🩷 I love taking a beautiful mini charm and turn it into a project bag for my sewing projects. 🧵🥰

  12. I love all kinds of bags. I have so many tote bags which I usually get at thrift stores, but last summer I bought a bag at the Grand Canyon, and I just love it because it reminds me of that trip and the QAL we did about the National Parks. Also, I save all kinds of ziploc bags that come in shipping. I feel like we should reuse these as much as possible since they can’t be recycled. They’re great for keeping quilting pieces separated. I am thinking of you and your Mom and wishing all the best during this time of adjusting to new routines and schedules.

  13. My favorite bag is a project bag that I made from a Lori Holt panel. It has a sweet house on it. I keep a cross stitch project in it.

  14. Thinking of you in this season – I have been there. It is difficult but so worth it. I love making bags and the boxed corners sure make them look nice!

  15. I love the bags that you made with fabric on top and back with Tula Pink fabric, it also had clear Vinal. We miss you Pat .

  16. Hi Pat, My favorite Bag Is a Travel Bag by Annie. It was difficult for me to make but I love it. I love the mesh bags and all Fat Quarter shop organizing tools. My heart goes out to you and your family. Prayers and Hugs are coming to you.

  17. My favorite bag is the one I got from Mood in New York City! If any of you watch Project Runway (the search for the next great clothing designer)! Mood is a spectacular fabric store in the heart of the Garmet District of NYC. They don’t have a lot of quilt fabric but when you are looking for the unusual garmet fabric this is the place to go! If you have never touched or seen fabric that is hundreds of dollars a yard you are missing a fun experience! I did find a bolt of fabric that was already sewn like a quilt top, but it was from all different kids of fabric. I bought 2 yards and plan some day to make a quilted jacket!
My bag from Mood is black with gold lettering and is made of heavy canvas!

  18. My favorite bags are those that I make from leftover quilt scraps and that are big enough to hold multiple projects while I’m traveling. I line them and add pockets that are useful for all the essentials needed for each project. One can never have too many bags . . . .

  19. My favorite bag comes from Missouri Star. A friend gave me the bag. My next favorite comes from the post office. It is one of the state stamp canvas bags. Take the time you need for family affairs.

  20. Fav bag… I like the project bags that are see thru. Helps me stay organized. I like the breathe ability of the mesh ones too.

  21. My favorite bag is a string backpack I made several years ago, it holds my workout clothes. Plus it’s very washable.

  22. I love any bag and am a bag collector of sorts! I’m learning to sew bags and do this in between quilting to give myself a break. I’m currently making myself a girly fishing bag for our boat using the new Tula Pink salmon fabric.

  23. I have a multitude of bags. I purchased a huge Vera Bradley tote that is the perfect retreat bag as it holds everything from multiple project bags to my light, mat and all the notions. It is my current favorite.

  24. 💖My favorite bag is a handmade bag made with hexagons by women in Honduras…it is absolutely stunning.
I can feel the love in every piece.

  25. I want you to relax this summer and enjoy your time with your mom! The bags are adoreable and I would love to have one in my collection. I keep up with you as often as I can but I, too, am recovering from a stroke. Some days are better than others. Take care!

  26. I like all kinds of bags but really like my last purchase. It was a project bag from my local quilt shop. Thanks for what you do Pat.

  27. Thanks for sharing with us today. We all have parents and when they are aging, I don’t think anyone can fully prepare us for all that it involves. I love putting projects in bags when I go to retreats. I have one of the mesh ones and I love it.

  28. I received a tote bag from my stepdaughter many years ago and I use it for trips, show and tell at guild meeting etc. I am lost when my husband cleans a will put that bag some where I can’t find it (he drives me crazy when he does this). I use this bag all the time especially for retreats. Sorry to hear about your mother and prayer for you all.

  29. I love to make all kinds of bags. I have a few of the mesh bags for projects and i really like those. I just saw a new really large mesh tote bag on FQS website that i think looks really cool! Finding rest amidst all of the things you are doing is hard. Some days I just have to lay down and try and quiet my mind. I dont sleep but i find it is restful! God bless you for your service and love to your mom!

  30. My favorite bag is any bag that I have packed with a project that I am now inspired to do, especially if I have put everything I need for the project inside the bag. It makes starting easy. And if I stop, hopefully when I pick it up again, it will be less frustrating to re-start again.

  31. I love all sorts of bags. My favorite is a medium tote I have had for a couple decades now.
My thoughts are with you as you enter the next phase of your Mom’s care. This is difficult and taxing. Having gone through this I understand everything you have shared.

  32. The mesh bags are my favorite at this time. I love putting my quilt projects in them to take when traveling, perfect size.

  33. I love making bags. Especially ones that have a front pocket that I can embroider something on with my embroidery machine. My son has a charity softball tournament every August and he has a logo that I’ve embroidered on bags, and they’re always a big hit!

  34. I love the mesh bags for storing projects and preparing for retreats! I appreciate you and your content, and I am grateful for whatever you are able to share. Take care of you while you take care of your mom. Stop to enjoy this time, whenever possible. Praying for you and your family.

  35. My favorite bag is the first one I made two years ago. I used a quilt as you go pattern using leftover jelly roll strips in mostly pinks. I’ve received many wonderful compliments on it.

  36. Wishing you all the best with your mom, Pat, having been through it myself and have never regretted the time I spent with my mom. My favorite bag is a Sew Together bag I made years ago. I love the color of all the FQS items!

  37. Sending virtual hugs to your family after watching today’s video. Like so many others, I’ve been where you are and empathize. Being able to help your mom in a time of need is incredibly fulfilling, but also physically and emotionally draining under current circumstances. I started teaching myself to sew and quilt on my moms 1960s Singer after she passed as a way to connect with her spirit. I do not own a pair of pants that she didn’t hem for me lol. Anyway, as a new quilter, my favorite bags for keeping my solids straight are Ziploc bags from supermarket – frugal newbie creativity for now!

  38. I like mesh bags but have never made any. They contain mostly hand worked items.
I also like projects bags with a clear vinyl front and zipper. I keep what I’m presently sewing on in them.

  39. My favorite bag is one my daughter made for me. Originally, I used it as a purse, but it has become my take-along bag for knitting, crocheting, handwork. When I’m on vacation I tuck my wallet in and it doubles as my purse, but guarantees my hands can always be busy because of the project tucked inside. It has pockets both outside and in. Some are solid fabric and some are mesh. Some are open and some zipper shut, and some are divided. It has an adjustable strap as well as handles. I just got back from a trip where it again served me well. I think it’s time to unload it and throw it in the washing machine – which is another thing I love about it!

  40. Bags of all types is an ongoing collection/hobby of mine but my favorite is the clear nylon mesh bags w colored zippers and coordinating zipper pulls. Can’t forget zipper pulls!
