The Boy’s of Summer.. you know what they do right? Besides being a great song, it’s all about baseball!
Block #9 ‘Games of Summer’ … Baseball, kickball, swimming, hiking, summer night tag… the games of summer is a LONG and wonderful list! I also loved catching fireflies, playing volleyball outside, and going to watch my friends ride horses… sweet memories!
For this block we do a sew and cut away, leaving us with a few really nice size triangles. I did a bonus mug rug. Here are my directions
- Sew the trimmed away triangles to each other, just as you trim them.
- Resize to 2.5″ square
- Sew the 4 of them into a 4-pach like the mug rug.
- Sew a 1.5″ strip to the top & bottom.
- Sew a 1.5″ strips to the left side.
- Sew a 6.5″ square to the right side.
- Quilt with a straight line, bind, done!
What is your favorite Game to play in the summer?
Using the diagonal stripe in the block makes it exciting!! I want to do a quilt with all diagonal stripes in the same position.

I’m going to be brave this week and sew those top 2 rows together…I often hesitate because I might want to switch blocks around. Since this time I’m using a really tight set of fabrics, I’m confident I can do it now… how about you? Are you ready to sew rows?

I love this block! and the secondary pattern when you do a whole quilt with this block!!!! I can’t wait to get at this one!
