Block #2 is ‘Oh The Gardens!’

In my world, summer means gardens. Flower gardens, vegetable gardens, fancy gardens, and neighborhood gardens.

I truly live for flowers. You see them in quilts of mine and I’ve gardened, just for myself, since I was a kid. Seriously a KID.. what kid gardens for fun when nobody else in the world they know is gardening?

I really enjoy sharing my thoughts each week in the pattern, and look forward to hearing what you think about with the weekly topic.

This one will be a good. I’m looking forward to seeing photos of your gardens PLUS the flower blocks I designed.

Now to make your block and share a photo below at the quilt show, and join my Facebook Group for all the wonderful fun!

  1. Pat,
This question relates to quite a few months ago. It is about the Drive Along. I save the yardage requirements and Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. I cannot find the rest of the pattern. Those are to make the flower. I need the instructions are for the butterfly and the stem and leaves of the flower. There are links on your blog to Sarah Maxwell’s blog and I cannot get anywhere using those links. There appears to be a certification error when I try to access those links. Do you know any way I can get the rest of the pattern? Many thanks

HI PAT, my Dad was a Manitoba farmer who married my Mum in England at the end of the 2nd world war and brought her back to a quarter section farm with no running water or electricity. Six children later she had enough of being snowed in six months and eaten by mosquitoes the other six months, and they returned to England with her Singer treadle sewing machine that she sewed our dresses on. I have one of the quilts that the church ladies sewed for her when she was expecting twins, Pat and Penny.
My Dad always grew flowers for my Mum to cut and decorate Church and home. I just finished a Kaffe Bassett flower quilt that my Mum would have loved, can never grow or love flowers enough.Penny.

  3. Oh, Pat, I did the same thing ! Loved planting stuff. I even foiled a box, filled it with dirt and planted peas in it. I set it in the window to grow. I was always in the dirt and mud. Always picking wild flowers for my Mom.
