Block #15 … ‘Front Porches’…. sitting on one is the absolute BEST thing ever!

When we bought this home the one requirement was a front porch. The shipping Department grew up with one and missed having it. It didn’t take me long to realize why it was an essential part of our home.

Do you have a front porch?

For this block I used just the middle as a bonus table runner layout. It can use charm packs for the middle and you can use it for the squares too!  So it’s perfect to use up those left over 5″ charm squares.

AND it’s a fast fun project to enter in my Challenge!

  1. I realized today that I missed one. There is a 12 by 12 off the second floor. They build this place in 1912 and didn’t cut corners. I’m talking 70 windows and 10 outside doors. It even had central vacuum at a time when most homes didn’t have electricity.

  2. I love sitting on my rocking chair on my front porch.
I love our “hood”. Neighbors and butterflies!

  3. I love my porch.I like to sit and watch the hummingbirds, and hear the chirping birds . My little dog Buddy likes to soak up the sun and keep me safe from mail truck, ups trucks and fed ex trucks. 🙂 From my porch I can see my flaming red bougainvillea gloriously entwined on the post and my two huge patriot’s dream red rose bushes.

  4. My house has a small front porch, not large enough for sitting, but I have a nice sun room and a wonderful large deck ‘overlooking’ my backyard surrounded with woods. I used to have a sewing machine in my sunroom and enjoyed it so much, but it gets really humid and I was afraid of the moisture ruining the machine, so I brought it back into the main house. I still love sitting out there watching the birds, squirrels, and sometimes deer that visit our backyard.

  5. In Australia we have patios or verandahs. Ours is wide enough for a 6 seater table and I have a servery bench from my kitchen on to it. There is a BBQ and Jack and Jill seat where my husband and I have smoko and watch the birds and butterflies. As it is a sunny spot we can use it all year round.

  6. I cleaned my front porch yesterday for the first time this year. It’s 11′ by 41′ with railings and columns around it. Five more smaller porches to go and I’ll be done. Ah, the joy of living in a large, older home! I can hardly believe that I would do all of them in one day years ago. Oh to be young again!
One more thing, I use the front porch to make my quilt sandwiches. Just tape down the backing and add layers. Then I peel half back and spray glue and work out the wrinkles. It works for me and I’m not breathing the glue.

  7. My porch is awesome. It is enclosed with a railing and it is open except for a small portion that is covered. It’s large and I can see my flowers and trees and watch the birds at the feeder. I love porches.

  8. My front porch is close to the street and when it rains, water gets splashed all over my porch. I sit on my back porch where I can watch the birds at my feeder while I read.
