And here we go… A Life Time of Memories are Made…. In the Summer Time!

2018 In the Summer Time!
Summer Time activities and memories are so sweet, and there is no better time than winter to keep pull out all our warm summery thoughts and stitch them into a quilt. Each week we’ll sew a block and celebrate a Summer Time activity. It might be Old traditions, New Traditions, songs, favorite foods, or memories of childhood summers that pop up over the twenty weeks we sew together.
At the end we’ll have a wonderful Quilt full of yummy memories just in time to celebrate Summer!

Block #1 is ‘At the Beach’
I have SO MANY great memories about the beach with new memories created each year! On page #1 of my pattern I tell my story, I can’t wait to hear your Beach memories. It can be an Ocean beach, a lake side beach, or maybe a ‘beach feel’ for land locked folks (be creative!)
This is the piece with the darling Compass Fabric as part of the print

I am SO excited about this theme & the quilt layout.
Each week we’ll make one block AND it’s ready to sew to the next one as the setting is part of the block.
I will give a border option in a few weeks, I’m writing a book so my time is a bit stretched to get that together now. But if you want a border it will be coming later!
Make your block and share a photo below at the quilt show, and join my Facebook Group for all the wonderful fun!

The beach!! I was born in 1948, and have spent every summer of my life at the beach. My family vacationed at the beach each summer of my life. My husband and I now live in a beach community in Rhode Island. My life is complete!! Pat, thanks for all you do. I am so excited to be part of this.
I grew up living near a lake. I would have breakfast and ride my bike to the lake and stay until supper time. Sometimes would go back after supper.
Soooooo looking forward to this. Can’t wait to use some very special fabric ordered special for this quilt. Tomorrow!!!!!
I forgot to mention…We would go to this little beach when we lived in Florida and it had fossilized sharks teeth all over the beach! My husband and son would collect teeth and I would collect shells and old coral and snorkel. The beach was left natural, no condos very little crowds and there was still sand dunes!!! We lived less than 20 minutes from the beach, but would drive 2 hours just to go to this one!!!
Oh how I’ve been waiting for this to start!!! And the first block is the Beach!!!! Love it!!! I didn’t add my star points yet because I’m waiting on the background fabric to get here. I love this block and the layout looks awesome!!!! I’m so excited!!!
great memories Vickie!
exactly! Thank you for noticing Diane!
wonderful!
love ‘The Shore’!
it’s pretty easy Helen. Strips and some HST
you need this one!
yeah!
Oh, this is so cute, Pat. When our boys were little, we lived in Erie, PA, and we went to Presque Isle a lot. The sand was often very HOT, but my boys loved to play in the water, and build sand castles.
You have done a really nice reinterpretation of a block. The way the one is in the corner makes me think of when you go in the water and you pick your spot where you beach stuff is and that is your point of reference. Then the colors change as you proceed deeper. Really nice.
Summertime beach memories for me are all about being at the family lake cabin in Minnesota. I’ll pick fabrics that echo that. Gonna like working with these bigger blocks.
I love the theme. I am away from my stash but plan on making this when I return home. Went to Cape Cod beach as my daughters grew up. Now my youngest is living south of Boston along the shore.
Love the layout setting …. excited to start block #1 …..
The start of another fabulous quilt. Thanks Pat. I love the block.
Super fun block Ms. Pat! I hope I can do it because it looks hard 😍
A Miami native, living in Omaha…and I LOVE the first block. My entire childhood was at the 🏝 beach.
Thank You, Pat.
My favorite place to be is at the beach. I am going to have fun with this one! Thanks
I love the block! Thank you, Pat
thank you Deanna!
Hi Joyce thanks for writing!
The part around them is what I consider the setting as it’s repeated. Thanks for pointing that out that it might be confusing to some people, I adjusted the wording
You are so welcome Sue!
Thanks for the new sew along and for sharing you talent!
I like the theme; I may have to start this one. Just looking at your sketch (which says the quilt size is 52″ x 65″) and “The Big Details”, shouldn’t it say the blocks are 13″ finished (13.5″ before setting into the quilt)? It appears you have a 2″ border around each block, but it will be one of two different borders, which will make the setting come out the way your sketch shows. [Sorry, I am an editor by nature].
Loving this new sew along. Thanks for all you do.
So excited to start another one….
