  1. Hello Pat… Now that it has finally cooled off I can drink my hot chocolate! Yeah!! I love to top mine off with mini marshmallows or whip topping if i am real lucky. I must limit myself to no more then 2 large mugs per day or I simply cannot afford to keep myself in the mix. Can’t wait to read what others like as well.

  2. Thanks for the super fun blocks! I like whipped cream on my hot chocolate. I like the blend of the thick, warm chocolate with the light, cool cream. Yum!!

  3. Thanks Pat for this super fun block. When my boys were small we would go hiking through the snow covered woods. Of course we carried along a thermos filled with hot chocolate and a supply of marshmallows!

  4. Hi Pat, I want to tell you how much I enjoy making these blocks, they’re easy and quick to make. My favorite topper is either marshmallow or whip cream. When we were children, every winter my 2nd cousin Clare would take all of us out for a sleighride into the woods, when we reached our destination there was a big bonfire roaring to warm us and sticks to make Smores to have with our hot chocolate
    . Miss those days.

  5. hi pat:) i’m getting an error when i click the link. block 1 and 2 are working for me, just not block 3.

  6. Love hot chocolate around a campfire! We lived on a farm and daddy would sugar off our maple trees in late winter when the sap began to run. He would build a big fire outside to start the sap boiling process. Mommy would bring out a big pot of fresh homemade cocoa and set it on the side of the big firepit! We all had a tin cup she would carefully laddle the steaming hot liquid into our cups that had one big marshmallow in the bottom! The tin cup would stick to our mittens but it warmed up our hands and tummies! Mind you this was back in the 50’s vefore instant mixes and styrofoam cups!

  7. the 2 1/2 line of the ruler is on the stitch line. this makes it look longer. remember when squaring up you place the required size line on the stitch line and trim. when its is opened you will have a 2 1/2 hst.

  8. My favorite hot chocolate topping is whipped cream, I did like marshmallows when I was a kid but not so much anymore. Peppermint Schnapps is good on occasion too! One of my favorite winter memories is my mom standing at the stove stirring a pot of hot chocolate on a cold winter evening. Somehow it always tasted better when Mom made it!

  9. Hello Pat
Every time I read an email from you it starts out “Hi Sapp” and I love it. I guess some people might not care for that but I think it’s fun. I guess I’m a real sap ’cause I fell for one of the greatest guys around and he’s been wonderful to me for over 55 years now so I guess I’ll keep him.
I just really want to compliment you and your new hair design. I LOVE IT!!! It’s super, fantastic and all those things rolled up into one. And I hope it’s as easy to manage as it looks. I absolutely detest all these people who have adopted the latest hair style on TV – that ugly look like you curled your hair and forgot to brush it out. Personally, I like these ladies who wear the smoothest styles, like yours. It’s just so nice. So keep on wearing it, please.
I enjoy all your emails and projects although I don’t get to do as many as I’d love to do.
    Keep on sewing,
    Linda

  10. My favorite way to “top” hot chocolate is with a shot of Rum Chada! Although I only do this when sitting around the campfire during fall camping…

  11. My name is Pat, but not Pat Sloan. What you are referring to is the red dotted line. It should be placed on the SEAM LINE on the bottom of the triangle, NOT on the bottom edge of the triangle. That gives you the true measurement. I hope you can understand my explanation. Happy sewing!

  12. Off to the grocery store then home to make my blocks! I know if I do the blocks first then the grocery shopping probably won’t get done ;).

  13. Hi Pat, I’ve a question on squaring up the 2 1/2 triangle? It looks like you add a quarter inch on the triangle instead of just the 2 1/2. Is there a reason for this?? I just want to do this right. Thanks!
