  1. Shoes off! Footies or socks almost always on. My feet are cold in winter and also cold in summer due to the air conditioning.

  2. I’m a half and half- if my feet are cold, I put on my shoes. Conversely- if my feet are hot, the shoes come off! Menopause is so much fun- not!

  3. We lived in Japan for 4 years in the 80’s and developed the habit of no shoes in the house! Really keeps carpets and flooring clean!! So I am a bare footed sewer year round!

  4. I always were shoes and socks. Now that I need to wear compression socks they are usually on first thing in the morning along with my shoes. I used to go barefoot all of the time and loved it. Shoes came off as soon as I was home. But now it is painful to not have the support of shoes. It’s ok. I’m used to it now. And I feel undressed without shoes and socks.

  5. Always shoes on. Started when the children were small and living on a farm, you never knew when the children would holler for help or if there was livestock out. ‘Help’ meant now not after you find your shoes and then get them on.

  6. I sew with my slipper on most of the time. And I used to be 1 of those barefoot kids until as an adult I got a piece of plastic stuck in the bottom of my foot. Not good because it was plastic it did not show up in Xrays so it is still in my foot.

  7. My shoes used to off at all times, but, now due to some kind of foot problem,I have to wear my sneakers with insoles. Old Age is not great. but, it beats the alternitive.

  8. SLippers. I always were slippers or clogs in the house. NO shoes are allowed. Been that way due to keeping the carpets fresh and clean looking and respect for the house itself. With 4 children, the house stayed cleaner and they liked wearing slippers or socks without the shoes. Just kept that up when they all grew up.

  9. Shoes on as soon I’m out of bed, in morning. Shoes off to go to bed at night. I have no choice, very, very flat feet so I have to wear orthotics.

  10. Right shoe off and left shoe on. I picked up this habit from my mother. She taught me to sew when I was 8. She said I would have a better feel of how much pressure I was putting on the foot pedal. The sewing machine was a Domestic. My mother sewed her clothes which were beautifully made. I even wore some of her skirts in junior high that she wore when she was in her twenties. I think I learned from the very best.

  11. Shoes off and I recently started using my left foot on the pedal. I found I balance with my right better that way. Try it. You might like it.

  12. I drive fast and barefoot! Even when I go to classes, retreats, etc., I make sure to wear a shoe or slipper that I can easily slide off. For some reason, I just can’t sew with shoes on….

  13. Shoes off, socks on. I can’t control my speed with my shoes on, but my feet get cold if I don’t have any socks on.

  14. I’m like you as I always wear shoes. I love socks, too. Fall is my favorite season because fluffy, comfy socks are wearable in the deep south!

  15. I am a hybrid too. I mostly sew on a Featherweight and I feel the pedal much better with my shoeless foot. That means I often walk around one shoe on and one shoe off!

  16. Shoes off. It’s like stepping on fine grapes to produce exquisite wine. Thus beautiful quilts!! You can drink wine at the same time. Lol
