***BLOCK #1 Cozy Things***

I'm so excited about this sew along! Block #1 is to make a list of things, by season, that make us feel cozy, peaceful, and joyful.  I have list pages in the pattern pdf.  This block is simple and super effective when used in repeat for the bonus layout I give you, see that below!

Fabric I’m using Snow Sweet https://shrsl.com/2hzyy

Background I’m using is Blossom in rose gold https://shrsl.com/2jzlf

***Videos***

In this video I show you how to look at your layer cake and determine what colors in it you will use.

You can do this with fabric off your shelf too

I explain the List we are making and show you this block with some other options.

If you need closed caption, click to the CC at the bottom of the screen, you may need to watch it at youtube to get that

  1. I love the cozy idea, especially now. I am trying to integrate things I have gotten away from due to raising grandson. I am trying to read more with a cup of coffee! Doing my needlework and knitting or crocheting. Maybe if I get these projects near my chair and in bags will help. Stress is NOT cozy,LOL! So getting projects organized that I can grab in the afternoons will help with cozy.

  2. This is positive and refreshing. Thank you! I’m behind in sewing; but do have my fabric, and am looking forward to reading about Hygge.

  3. I just finished my Jolly Bar Quilt top and sandwiching together. I have UFO,s to finish before doing cozy things. I feel bad because I am so far behind. Trigger finger as slowed me down quite a bit. Love all your books Pat I have purchased all 3.,Love your show and so happy with the progress on your wrists. Happy sewing to you

  4. That’s an excellent tip – since retiring I struggle with time management because I have this mindset that I don’t need to schedule, but I need to even more now. I keep a list of projects to make, so now I need to work up a timeline for all of them after prioritizing them. Thanks – I think i like the 1 project a day becasue I might get more done on each one.

  5. Hello Pat, I usually sew every day about 12 to 16 hours/ I will take breaks to stretch, go to bathroom and meals. Laundry is done during breaks and I will take a day or two off and spend time with family other wise I am in my happy place. Now this has been sense Covid 19. I like reading a good book, going for walks, shopping, spending with my grands and seeing family these are all the thinks I miss so instead I sew.

  6. Lovely block for big prints. Just finished the Childhood Games yesterday, so room for a new one. Thank you for all the work you do and the joy that brings.

  7. My sewing room is my happy place. I try to sew everyday if only for 10 minutes. I like to finish one project before moving on. However, right now I have 4 tops done and waiting for the spa, one waiting for binding and decided I want to do the cozy thing quilt. Never did one before, first time for everything. Enjoy your podcast everyday, Pat. Feel like I have friends to have coffee with.

  8. I am starting this project as soon as the layer cake comes in. Im almost finished with last year’s (or maybe the year before?) Winter Fun quilt. Main Street quilt is also almost finished.. I am really behind…lol

  9. Cute block! Trying to catch up. I sew every day. Some days longer then others life gets in the way sometimes.
Got gifts to get made toooo! Good Luck everyone! 🍀

  10. Looking forward to this one, but haven’t narrowed down my selection for fabrics yet. Would like to do flannel as the theme just screams for it, but need a background. Otherwise I’m waiting for a layer cake I just ordered.
Got my layer cake quilt done, but needs quitting. Can seriously relate to all the want to do lists everyone has going. 😄

  11. I really like this block! I’m going to use layer cakes I already have so I can use up some of my fabrics!

  12. I have a drunkards path that is multi print that is pprobably 20 years old you have inspired me to get it out and work on it a little at a time I guess it was put up because of the curves but I think I can master them now

  13. I’m excited for this one! I already had the Sew Sweetness layer cake and jelly roll when you announced the sew-along. Still waiting for background fabric to arrive, though.

  14. We are rvers so it depends on our travels when I sew. I do try for 2 days a week, and 3 is the best! My hubby is not a quilters husband! He needs to find something to do!

  15. I’m in my studio sewing every day all day, unless I have appointments or things outside the house. I do quilt every day

  16. Love the #1 Cozy Things block. It can be pretty chilly here on the coast basically all year round so how to cozy up is always in my thoughts; lap quilts/fleecy blankets, hot chocolate or cider, knitting scarfs, and lots of reading. I even play my fireplace video!

  17. We’re in the same club. My April SAL is cut, Going on A Picnic is cut, and others need final fabric decisions. Plus I have some charity quilt commitments to work on. Plus, Plus, Plus -more projects than time.

  18. I’m behind to Kim, just can’t do them all. Have gifts to get made and catch up on jelly Snowflake- Go west from hubby , Sewcialites & Stitch Pink by Moda. Not doing Cozy Things right now, but sure going to watch Pat’s videos. Good luck 👍🏻
