I don't think I can pick between Perennials and Annuals, they both go in my garden.

I have a few tips below for you.

TIP: Working fabric

  • I thought it would be interesting to look at all the fabric I have left to make the last 4 blocks. There is Plenty for 4 blocks.
  • For me the fun is figuring out what I can use of this for each one since I'm making this quilt each week along with you, it's not planned out. It's a creative surprise each week. I have loved working like this on Block Wednesday, it builds our 'creative senses'.

Die Cut Shapes

  • I decided to be very frugal on the cutting of the floral. I want to use the other leftovers in the last blocks. So I took the square from an edge that was nice instead of cutting a square out of the middle to center a flower. I'm good with this.
  • And for the Triangles I layered the 2 fabrics right sides together and once again was careful with placement to have very little waste.

TIP:

  • I cut the skinny white strips from all the random white strips sections I had left from prior blocks.
  • This is thinking like a scrap quiltier, look at what you have and cut for the pieces needed. Don't just cut into the new things, look at all the random parts for pieces that are big enough

My design wall is layered, you can see Christmas Fig underneath at the top. The Flower Bouqyet & the Christmas fig are my priorities to finish up and have tops ready to send out. Luckily with the sew along I have to make the blocks!

  1. Thanks for the tutoring on your fireside chat about fabric choices with this block. I’m still struggling with my choices for this one. The information about fabric selection making one section float or another stand out was really helpful. I almost made it float which isn’t my intention. I hope all that makes sense. 😁

  2. Pat, I think you need to use more of that raspberry pink fabric in the rest of your blocks in order to balance out the colors. 🙂 Block 17 is a great block to set off floral prints. The people who have already submitted their versions stitched some beautiful blocks.

  3. I’m loving making the top in quadrants! So much easier piecing the smaller sections in my tiny sewing space. I’ve got last wk’s and this wk’s blocks to do since we were so busy with Easter last wk. And, SOMEHOW, when I went to assemble quad #3, I had missed block #14. So I’ll be doing that one this wk as well. Need to get back on track.

  4. I love perennials in my garden but always add annuals for the color they bring all summer long – especially in hanging baskets outside my door and patio.
    Love this block!
