  1. My husband and I just returned from a trip to Germany with a group of 110 other singers. Now, I know music is not one of your things, but I gotta tell ya…singing in those cathedrals has been one of the highlights of my life. We did find pastry shops too!
What was the name of the city you were raised in while you lived in Germany?

  2. Thanksgiving traditions in our large family include involving everyone in the process of a big dinner together. We haven’t ~all~ gathered at the same time for a couple years but we still enjoy the memories and laughter had by a special time together. Making cookies, pies and all the turkey trimmings. I made each of our 9 adult children a photo book filled with all our traditional foods and recipes as well as photos of each as we worked together. It has a permanent place in my kitchen as the gold standard for getting those recipes correct. I get up at 6 to put a turkey in the oven and given a few details that always seem to be last minute rushes we eat by 2 pm. This year we know we will be missing our oldest daughter and family who moved to Germany in May. Your give-away for the German cookies/memorable tin brings them a bit closer. We hope to connect over the internet when we gather here and compare our celebrations. Thank you for letting me share. 🙂

  3. Cookies!
My thanksgiving tradition has always been to gather with family for a thanksgiving dinner complete with turkey and dressing. Sadly, my brother passed away unexpectedly and his wife, who would have hosted, is a bit overwhelmed. So her children and grandchildren will gather at her house. The rest of us have rented an Air bnb is the same vicinity so that we can get together Friday. I know that it will be a great time for our small group of 8 on Thursday and a large group of 20 on Friday .

  4. Our only tradition was for everyone to get together and visit and have a big Thanksgiving meal at my parents house. We went to my parents until a few years ago. Now our kids and grandkids come to our house.

  5. The Lekerlee cookies remind me of my greatgrandmother & grandmother making lebkuchen at Christmas time. Their kitchens smelled so lovely!
Our Thanksgiving traditions have changed over the years. Grandparents & parents have passed away and our 6 children & grandchildren live in various states around the country making it difficult for whole family get-together for the holidays. So…. We purchased a ZOOM subscription and now we can happily visit with everyone over the internet especially during the holidays! This is our new tradition for now!

  6. My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is preparing the meal and setting the table for all of our family. As the years go by the faces and number of people around the table change but each one is welcomed and their company is valued.

  7. My siblings and their families gather on the Friday after Thanksgiving for a meal and catching up on what’s going on in our families. It can be anywhere from 50 and up depending who can make it. I always am asked to bring the party potatoes!

  8. (not sure if open to the UK) As we don’t have Thanksgiving but we have Christmas traditions that we sort off stick too. We always have a good cooked breakfast first thing Christmas morning before we go see what Santa has left, then we go visit family in the afternoon then have a late Christmas meal in the afternoon.

  9. My husband and I would love to have some of the Lebkutchen (?) cookies to share around our Christmas tree. Of course we’ll choose those with chocolate frosting!

  10. My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is cooking for my extended family. Sadly 5 of the original members are no longer with us and other members have moved out of the area. This year I’ll be cooking for 4 of us. The day after Thanksgiving I’ll start decorating by getting out my authentic German nutcrackers and pyramids. Both my husband and I had grandparents who came from Germany many years ago. Of course German cookies are a big part of our Christmas traditions.

  11. We really enjoy getting together for our traditional Thanksgiving dinner and watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade. I would love to be included in your cookie giveaway!!

  12. I too, would like to be in your cookie giveaway. Our tradition is our dinner together. The turkey gets cooked a new way nearly every year as my husband continues his quest for the moistest turkey. It was quite spicy last year. I’m secretly pleased we are not repeating that one.

  13. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love the food and cooking it for everyone. I try to invite someone that may be alone to join us for dinner..so that’s my tradition..besides cooking the traditional food.
Thanks for all of your inspiration and fun!

  14. We used to always go to Grandma’s house for Thanksgiving. One Thanksgiving I remember there was several inches of snow and Dad had to try two times to get up the long hill from our house to get to Grandma’s. No way we were missing out.

  15. We have many traditions… one being holding hands for a prayer & sharing what we are Thankful for as we eat our Turkey dinner and pumpkin pie!

  16. Cookies are one of my favorite parts of the Holidays. I especially love the tins. I ordered some incase I don’t win. 😀😀

  17. We enjoy multiple Thanksgiving dinners with different parts of the family, but always my children and nearly-grown grandchildren at our table. Always lots of yummy desserts and these cookies would be a welcome addition!

  18. A Thanksgiving (and Christmas) tradition is to make cranberry sherbet that is eaten with the meal as a pallet cleanser between bites. I have friends that expect me to make it for them whether I join them for the meal or not! lol which I am happy to do since it can be a gift I know they’ll enjoy.

  19. One of our Thanksgiving traditions is the Applesauce Stack Cake, or Apple Layer Cake as we call it in our family. The recipe I use is the one passed down to my mother by my paternal grandmother. I don’t remember my grandmother, but I keep this tradition alive in our family. My grown children ask for this cake at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

  20. I’d love to try the cookies. I different favorite traditions for each holiday we celebrate. I especially like it when my boys and families are together with us.

  21. Our Thanksgiving tradition is traveling to my brother and sister-in-law’s house, visiting all day, enjoying a delicious meal and a good game of Scrabble. We only get together once a year so our time together is extra special.

  22. Our tradition is: I prepare the stuffing, wake my husband up to stuff the turkey, then I bring it to my sister in-law’s house to roast the turkey. The first two years I roasted the turkey and brought it over to her house. Unfortunately the smell was at my house. We roast it at her house so the smell is there when you walk in.

  23. my two daughters one son-in-law ,two granddaughters ,grandson and two great granddaughters will join my husband and I for turkey my homemade noodles and all the rest of the food And then decorate the Christmas tree.

  24. I would love to win a tin of cookies to take to my dinner. We enjoy making homemade decorations to put in the dining room window. Happy Thanksgiving!🦃🍁🍂🥧

  25. Our Thanksgiving traditions previously included travel to see my husband’s family. With the seasons of life they change but now include 2 grandsons so we are still blessed. The tins are beautiful!

  26. Our favorite Thanksgiving tradition is for me to do all the work and others to enjoy. We have a small family and our thankful we can be together on these major holidays.

  27. A favorite tradition is going to my daughters in-laws to share the day together. I favorite food that is requested is a salad that a friend called yucky salad but loved it the whole time he was eating it. The family loves this wonderful salad.

  28. One of our newer traditions for Thanksgiving is that my son-in-law fries the turkey. So moist and delicious!

  29. My Thanksgiving tradition is to listen to Arlo Guthrie’s song “Alice’s Restaurant” While prepping the turkey.

  30. My mother always made a pineapple marshmallow salad and every Thanksgiving it is made and stories about Grandma follow.

  31. We always have Thanksgiving with extended family on my mom’s side. It doesn’t matter if there are 14 or 40 there, we love being together. We have taken turns hosting, but wherever it is, we all bring food for the feast and share in making the meal. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!

  32. A tradition that my husband and I started before we had kids is that we start decorating outside for Christmas the week of Thanksgiving so that on the evening of Thanksgiving we light up our yard. Now that we have kids it is even more special because they help us make the decorations, set it up, and now I do not have to wrap all the extension cords by myself.
Of course, I usually host dinner and it is always fun to have family over to break bread and remember what we are most grateful for.

  33. When my parents were both living and living in their old what we called farmhouse on Thanksgiving day was also butchering day where we would kill three pigs the day before leave them hang overnight they get them stiff from cold and then all the men in my family, grandfathers brothers grandsons nieces nephews Would do the butchering starting at 4 AM on Thanksgiving day and the women would then prepare a big Thanksgiving meal. It was probably one of the best holidays for that reason because all of us cousins would get together and when we were younger, we would play and we would be the runners and we just enjoy being with each other , when it came time to eat, then all the men who were working at the butchering will come in first my father or grandfather would always say Grace they would eat first then the children would come in second and then, as I got older, the women would be the last eat The meal would have mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, which always was a big joke because my dad did not like sweet potatoes but my mom loved them. There would be corn would be green bean and then my mom would bake between 20 and 25 pies to have for dessert , so that is probably one of my best growing up as a young child and young woman . Every family that would come and help with butchery would then get some scrapple or bacon or sausage to take home with them for giving their time for helping my parents and grandparents. My family would then have enough meat to last us all winter long.

  34. Using my grandmother’s china every year is one of my favorite traditions. I love setting my table in the same way my mother set our childhood table. Such sweet memories.

  35. Those cookies sure look yummy and I love the canisters! Would be wonderful for Thanksgiving! One of our traditions is to play a family game like bingo or left, right, center. Lots of laughs and family fun!

  36. My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is enjoying a hot cup of tea and the calm after a beautiful meal with family!

  37. Our family traditions on Thanksgiving are for each of us to say something we are thankful for while gathered around the dining table. The second is to have the grandkids make a Christmas ornament for their Christmas tree. Then we play Rudolph bingo for prizes!
