just got the notification that HeartSongQuilts in Hot Springs SD lost everything business, home, etc) on Feb 17 to fire. That puts a totally different perspective on UFO projects. Get them done and pass them on. They were involved in providing quilts for people rescued from human trafficking.
Thank you Pat for suggestion of stacking to the side. It actually motivated me to really clean off the entire cutting table. So for Day 5 of the challenge I’ve been working on paper piecing flying geese for a Kaffe quilt.
I just got a chance to watch day 3 and 4— but I’m happy to say that on day 3, I did finish up the blocks and the layout for a scrappy quilt. And on Day 4, I got them all sewn together! Then I had an unexpected trip to camp for the night, so when I get back, my cutting table will get cleaned off- so I at least have three quarters of usable space!!
I have a table in my studio that seems to always be a catch-all. I cleaned it off and put everything away as my tidy up challenge today.
I need to sort through the boxes on my sewing table and find new homes for most of what’s in them. I get started on them and then get either sidetracked or interrupted. Will work on one of them today and the others over the weekend.
at least stack to the side each night so it’s tidy!
yes to it’s forever home!
that is great!
wonderful!
you need a rolling assistant to hold them while you are working!
awesome!
we all need a kick in the butt sometimes!
that is great!
I have 2 quilt tops that need to be sandwiched and quilted.
I am going to tidy up my workspace where my 24″ X 36″ Olfa mat is and keep clear each and every day. I tend to put paperwork on there because this space was used strictly as my home office until I retired from being a Customer Service Rep on July 1st of 2019. I’m already organized and set for tomorrow to continue sewing on the binding on the 2nd project. Thanks again, Pat!
I am going to tidy up my workspace, because I have many scraps used for the traffic jam squares, & they are taking up my cutting space.
I cannot see the top of my cutting area, so I am going to put on some cool music and have a go at it tonight!
I am going to tidy up the fat quarter area of my fabric closet. Wish me luck.
I have recently sandwiched the 9 quilt tops that I had made. I have batting scraps in bags and a pile of quilts on the floor. That is my tidy area for day 4. I use my downstairs bathtub behind the shower curtain for the bulky batts and I think that will do for the stack of quilts waiting for me to quilt.
So, why do I do these things because Pat say to, but don’t do them when I know they need done? Thanks, Pat, for the kick in the b— to empty out the two laundry baskets of misc stuff that have been growing for at least a year. Everything has found a permanent home, except the fabric that I washed and is in the dryer. It will get put away as soon as it is dry. Feeling good here.
For our Challenge #4, I am going to put my focus on the floor area . There are several stacks and piles of different junk laying around floor area, that need to be cleaned, because it looks unappealing and I could fall over it, and maybe break something, or fall over something and hurt myself…. That is the goal. Then since I know it doesn’t belong in that room, I hope to take it and put it away in it’s next forever home… not creating another area to clean but keeping the other area clean as I go!! Then I will be going through my book stacks laying around, to clear them out. I will put them in one room or another. That is my room details… but focus area is still y the floor!
take little bites.. eventually it’s done!
I really need to tidy the whole room I sew in but…I’ll start today by neatening up the sewing area around my machine.
Day 4 tidying up. My biggest problem recently is keeping the cutting board ready for next day. I’ve been cutting scraps up into 2 1/2 inch squares and it seems to make the cutting board a constant mess. So I will have to set cutting scraps on hold and leave cutting board clean so I can focus on what is important for the day.
