ahh.. the movies!! Every Main street needs a movie theater.  If it's not right in the heart of your town I bet it's very close by.. maybe one street over.

Going to the movies create so many memories. Your first movie, your first date night, girls night out, a movie that touched your heart, or one that you saw a zillion times.

When we travel we LOVE finding old theaters and taking photos. This one is in Maumee Ohio (what gave it away?)  When you share you block this week tell me a movie memory, I can't wait to hear!

THE DOWNLOAD is at the end of my article HIGHLIGHTED IN PINK, so keep reading

Share your block at my Facebook group

PLEASE READ INFO:

  • Blocks are ALL 12.5" for this project
  • The quilt uses JUST ONE BLOCK, but each week I give you a BONUS layout using MULTIPLE Of the blocks for you to make a BONUS project.
  • For this sew along I'm using making two of the same quilt with different fabrics, much like I did for Christmas FigFabrics I'm using are below

TIP of the week:

If you are struggling with getting to your sewing, stop and look at your environment. I find if I can't easily get to my project to sew I'm not motivated. So what is going on? Is your area un-organized, so you can't find things? Is there no place to actually work without moving things first? THAT means it's a struggle to sew. Which means you avoid working on the project.

  • When I finish up projects, or get a lot of stuff in at once, I don't always put items in the best spot. So I'm resorting my current project bins right now because they are not efficient. Case in point, I currently have BOTH fabric lines for this sew along in this one basket. The basket is SO full and it's hard to use. Hard to use = not fun.  So I need to either put in a larger basket or in two baskets. I'm voting large one but it's a lot of fabric so it might end up being 2 bins.
  • This bin goes on the white tower unit behind my sewing machine. I should only have projects in there that are current. But right now that is not the case. So those all need reviewed and what's in them put in less 'prime' storage spots.
  • So if you find yourself with poor organization choices, stop and fix it.

TIP:

  • My block on the left in Cheeky fabric has low contrast. If you want higher contrast change either the outer plaid to a darker blue, or change the white/blue print to more of a tonal. That is what I did with the block on the right done in country store fabric

  1. I am ready to cut block #3 – Main Street. I don’t understand, the picture shows 4 fabrics used, the cutting directions are for only three fabrics. Can someone help me. Thanks you!!

  2. My favorite picnic food is potato salad and hamburgers fresh off the grill. We used to have picnics in my Uncle’s backyard on the Fourth of July. My cousins were older than my siblings and I, but we always enjoyed listening to the older folks tell stories.

  3. Hey Chris!
WOW!!!! 3 for 3. That’s pretty amazing, isn’t it? Have a great night!

  4. Hi Jan,
Wow! You love potato salad too! Have you ever had it made with sour cream. If not, maybe you should try it. And homemade ice cream is another winner! Personally, I love lemon pie ice cream. Gosh, I was already hungry. Now I’m famished!
    Have a great evening!

  5. Hi Pat,
You were just over at the Fat Quarter Shop and you asked what food did we have to have at a picnic. I’d like to answer that, please! The first thing that popped in my mind was sour cream potato salad… YUM!!!
I LOVE it and it’s so easy to make. You just use sour cream in lace of mayo or Miracle Whip (whatever you normally use as a binder. I think it is SO DELISH. I can easily polish off a big bowl of it without any breaks! There are other things too but that has to be my most favorite. In fact, I feel like making some right now and sit out on my back steps!
I LOVE the first bundle of fat eighths by Fig Tree. You mentioned the name twice but, I just can’t remember now. Please, could you tell me one more time?
    Thank you SO MUCH!!!
I really love your quilt alongs and I have at least 3 of your books. You are so special and REAL! You know how some people are phony? Well, you are not one of them!
All my very best to you. Always stay happy AND healthy!

  6. I think my favorite picnic food would have to be my Mom’s potato salad. Now she didn’t usually write down her recipes so it took a lot of hits and misses but my husband thinks I have finally mastered it and it is also his favorite picnic food. My father-in-law loved it but didn’t care for eggs so I would always make him a special dish of it without the eggs for family gatherings. We no longer have our parents but have wonderful memories of good times and great family recipes that we continue to share with our kids and Grandkids.

  7. Block three done. This week you asked what we like to have or bring to a picnic. My favorites are Potato salad and Cole Slaw. Especially if I see my Aunts there that I knew that had “Killer” Potato salad. You know that kind. They would say “oh, its nothing special, pinch of this and a dash of that.” You always knew they were holding back something.
