Block Wednesday!

My theme this week is picking flowers, which might be the BEST part of being a gardener right? Go out to your own flower beds and pick a vase full of blooms!  Divine! I have an old splatterware jug that belonged to Gregg's grandmother. I fill it each spring.

We also have the next set of small blocks, so fun!  This is a PERFECT time to use up smaller pieces to make a scrappy block. Keep reading to see my tips and the section together, then the Download for my pattern this week is in PINK

TIPS FOR DIE CUTTING

  • Always move your dies around so that you don't keep cutting on the same section.
  • I've found that when I angle the die on the shim it does a few things. First it more evenly distributes the die across the roller that is pressing to cut the fabric. Which means it won't be as loud.
  • It also creates more even pressing areas on the shims so that you don't have a hard line. That keeps the shims from bending as much.
  • I live with an engineer, he had to play with this to figure it out. it's what they do.. they can't help themselves. Do you know an engineer? Then you know what I mean!

** BUY A GEMINI Die Cut machine, I love mine! **

  1. I will be looking for your book as I am interested in the tulip quilt/throw. I would like to make it for a friend in memory of her parents. She & her Mom always went to the Philadelphia Flower Show.

  2. Summer quilts for the cabin. Only have afgans and while they are ok they are also “holey” so still are “air conditioned”. The cabin is air conditioned (I don’t like air conditioning) so I want something to cover with that isn’t airy.

  3. I need a summer quilt. Light weight with flowers on it. Like your tulip pattern!
Thanks for giving me so much quilting inspiration 🙂

  4. Good Morning Pat! Love all your patterns. Congrats on another new book. Can’t wait to get my copy! I need more springtime quilts. The tulip pattern will be my first quilt from your book. Thank you for sharing your talent. Arlene

  5. Fall is the most beautiful time of year. I would love a traditional, with a modern twist, quilt to make.

  6. Spring quilts are what I’m in need of. Love your patterns! Thank you for sharing all your quilty knowledge with us.

  7. Love all the seasonal patterns in this book but especially the tulip pattern. I need a Spring quilt!

  8. After seeing the pumpkin wall hanging on the cover of this book I have decided I NEED it! Knowing you will have written these directions very clearly, I am willing to risk branching out to try and make it. Thank you!

  9. I need a summer quKit – something bright, happy, to will the sun to shine here in the UK!

  10. Out of all the quilts I have made, the past two and a half years, I have never made a fall quilt.

  11. I need a quilt for each season…spring, summer, fall and winter. One never has enough especially when you are always giving quilts away to others.

  12. My sister and I are doing this guilt a long. My sister invested in the fabric collection. I have a very large fabric stash. I could not justify getting more fabric. Making the choices for the blocks has been a challenge and I did end up buying a small amount of fabric for the setting blocks. My quilt is very scrappy but I have repeated the setting block fabrics to tie the sections together. It will be a traditional wild English garden. So far it has bees, butterflys and fairies. It will have birds and maybe even a gnome and ladybugs. Currently I am trying to work in two little girls picking flowers in the most recent block. Yes, I have fabric that depicts two girls picking flowers. This has been fun and doing this with my sister has kept us motivated.

  13. I have made alot of winter and Christmas wallhangings and table runners but don’t have many spring items. I really like flowers and gardening so I need to get busy and make some spring wallhangings to brighten up our house!

  14. Now that you mention wall art, a spring and summer onerous are desperately needed on my walls in the living room. Thank you Pat and congratulations on your precious book! I’m perusing:

  15. I Need more spring and summer quilts and pillows! I have lots of fall and holiday items but not spring! Your tulip design is wonderful and would happily display it in my home!

  16. Thanks, for the chance Pat. I really would like to make a new picnic quilt for this summer’s travels!

  17. I think I need a Fall Quilt. It is my favorite season and it seems to be the most neglected. There is Halloween and Christmas but true Fall is just missing from my home. I love the crispness of the air and beautiful color. It is my favorite season of the year.

  18. Fall…I really need my own Halloween quilt! Made one for the grandson, but I really want one, too!!

  19. I need to m are some more Fall quilts and table runners! Then I will need to make some summer quilts, then ….. I just need to make Quilts!!!

  20. I need a summer project. I’m never lacking in Christmas projects but I never get around to Summer. Congrats on the new book! It looks great!

  21. I need something for fall for my wall. I like hangings that aren’t holiday specific and can be used longer than a few days/weeks.
