Block Wednesday!

My theme this week is picking flowers, which might be the BEST part of being a gardener right? Go out to your own flower beds and pick a vase full of blooms!  Divine! I have an old splatterware jug that belonged to Gregg's grandmother. I fill it each spring.

We also have the next set of small blocks, so fun!  This is a PERFECT time to use up smaller pieces to make a scrappy block. Keep reading to see my tips and the section together, then the Download for my pattern this week is in PINK

TIPS FOR DIE CUTTING

  • Always move your dies around so that you don't keep cutting on the same section.
  • I've found that when I angle the die on the shim it does a few things. First it more evenly distributes the die across the roller that is pressing to cut the fabric. Which means it won't be as loud.
  • It also creates more even pressing areas on the shims so that you don't have a hard line. That keeps the shims from bending as much.
  • I live with an engineer, he had to play with this to figure it out. it's what they do.. they can't help themselves. Do you know an engineer? Then you know what I mean!

** BUY A GEMINI Die Cut machine, I love mine! **

  1. I definitely need a light, flowery, cool colors of blues, purples and greens quilt for a queen bed. IN SC the nights are warm but the a/c makes it way to cool for me not to have something over me!!!!

  2. I can’t wait to make your snowflake in your book! My favorite quilts are stars and snowflakes! Winter, snow, Christmas!

  3. I certainly need a new quilt for summertime. My husband made me this gorgeous wall space to display a quilt and I have to change them out frequently with summertime coming next…

  4. Fall is my favorite season. I might need to make a fall quilt. Thanks for the great giveaway and congratulations on your newest book.

  5. I am ready to work on a spring quilt. I finally put away all the snowmen in order to show the powers that be that I am ready for the end of winter. I did take an afternoon break from quilting to play outside with grandson.

  6. I need more quilts for all seasons. Maybe a more springlike one though with happy colors? I am so glad I found your site.

  7. My favorite season is SPRING. Second would be SUMMER. My passion has been coming into play with applique flowers – of all colors.

  8. So many cute blocks! Dream to do them all.
Thanks to you for what you do for your fellow quilters.
You keep it fun and interesting. I am learning
    New things.

  9. I definitely need spring and summer quilts! I only began quilting last August so I’m kind of a newbie. Mostly table runners and lap quilts. I need simple patterns for larger quilts. I love making your block-of-the week patterns!

  10. I love fall and the colors of nature and the fall material is just beautiful. It draws me to the fabric like a magnet,

  11. I need to make a spring quilt as I don’t have one. Your tulip pattern is just the right one, so bright and cheerful.

  12. I am feeling a bit dense because I have looked all over you site, and the other current contributors to The Splendid Sampler II attempting to find a link, name or pattern for the lower right picture in the email today. Would you please tellme where I can find this quilt, pattern or maybe a name for the pattern? Love blues and yellows together.
    Thanks!

  13. My favourite season is Spring. For this reason and the fact that I was born in the Netherlands, I just love your Tulip Quilt Wall-Hanging.

  14. Like many others I love the warm colors of Fall. I also crave the bright colors of Summer. The soft serene colors of Spring are luring me to search for fresh new patterns after this never ending Winter!!

  15. I need something for St.Pats day and 4th of July especially. I am trying to get a wall hanging, pillows, and table mats and a throw size quilt to decorate my living room for each season

  16. I need a Spring wall hanging, with lots of pretty Tulips. I’m trying to put up a wall hanging for each of the seasons or holidays. So I need to get busy.

  17. Hi Pat, I’m going to finish up a quilt this month, March 2019. I have the top finished, I just need to quilt and bind it. I made the quilt from blocks, that I made 4 years ago. They were waiting for me to finish it up. I actually had the sashing and backing fabric, too. Anxious to finish the quilt! Thanks.

  18. Hi Pat, you are amazing! You always make me smile. Thank you so much for having time for us. I’m looking for Spring Time (non-religious) table runners.

  19. I would love making a winter quilt. I just love warm colours and wintrish themes! Good luck with your new book, Pat! It looks fantastic :)!

  20. Summer for sure!!!! I love fall and winter holidays so I have plenty there. So spring and summer need my quilting efforts

  21. Spring is my huge happy time! It’s when everything starts coming back to life, the first flowers bloom and the cold of winter is over! I do need things for every season. But spring is my fav.
