How is your February going? I just realized as I'm writing this we are at the middle of the month, wow! In Virginia we had a few 'warmer' winter days, they are like being thrown a safety ring in the pool.. we grab onto those few warmer days to hold us until spring. As long as the sun stays out I do pretty good. And some brave birds are visiting the feeder by my desk window. It has been fun to watch them up close, even if they are very skittish.
We also said goodbye to our favorite Local Chinese restaurant today. They have been in business 17 years. Really nice people that own it.
Today I have some tips for how to handle looking at a pattern for color placement and totally changing it. Also a little on the layout for Sweet dreams.
Working on the crumb blocks and kit I got.. plus getting ready to sew the Flap jack.. am I nuts?? I think i might be.. ha!! Being inside I just want to sew all the things!

Pat, there is an alternative way to make the PIE block corners. One could make a four square economy block, finishing at four times the PIE corner size, and then cut the block into four quadrants. The economy block, for me, is easier than trying to get 3 HST to cooperate. I tried to download the PIE block, to get the measurements, but it keeps failing to download, or I would have looked up the squares dimensions.
I started late but finally caught up today!! What a fun learning experience this has been so far! Thank you for your concise instructions! So easy to follow for a beginner! My Dad’s favorite pie for as long as I can remember was lemon creme pie! I do love lemon creme! I think my favorite these days is apple crumb pie with all the scrumptious crumbly topping! Warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which I really can’t have these days! I just ordered the Secret Lives of Color book you talked about in another video. Can’t wait to see square #8!!
My favorite pie is now my sad pie. My remembering pie. My mother loved lemon pie. Whenever I’d get into trouble I’d bring her a peace offering from the cafe I worked at, a slice of lemon pie. Later on when I would go to the “big city” I’d bring her home a lemon pie from Perkins and we’d have coffee over pie. My mom got cancer and was in hospice, I took her a piece of lemon pie, it was her last one and our goodbye slice. On her birthday, I buy a lemon pie and have a slice. I miss her very much, but having a slice of pie on her birthday helps me remember her laugh and the memories we shared.
I love Lemon Icebox pie, but my favorite is Keylime Pie. I’m all about crust also, so any other pie, for example, Sweet Potato pie has to have more crust or less filing.
I LOVE lemon meringue pie with the meringue a MILE HIGH! I also love Boston cream, delicious 😋
OH PIE – my very favorite desert. Lemon meringue, pumpkin, my Mom’s apple (sadly she is gone and so is her recipe). I LOVE pie!
My favorite pie is a coconut cream or banana cream pie. For a fruit pie I enjoy a pear pie served warm with cinnamon ice cream. Enjoying thee QAL and learning quite a bit. Thank you for all you do.
My very favorite pie is lemon merengue! Yum!!
My favorite pie is Cherry! It was my dad’s favorite as well. I’d have to say that good old fashioned applie pie would come in second! Pat i am really enjoying keeping up with this QAL. As I mentioned in another post I’m using the moonstone fabric and making the blocks like yours , for the most part. I’m so excited every week to see what the next block will be. It’s going to be gorgeous when it’s done!
My absolute favorite pie is blackberry, warm, with a side of vanilla ice cream. In the morning, a warm slice with my coffee. I remember growing up my mom would give each of us kids a bowl or bucket and said don’t come home until it’s full. Not sure which was fuller, us or tbowls. Of course, you can’t do that anymore. Gone are the good days.
I like pie much more than cake, and it is all about the crust. Even single crust pies have to have a good crust. Lemon Meringue is my fav. My birthday is in July, and we decided we would have a “round” party. Everything served had to be round. Pizza and pie, grapes, blueberries, all the round things. My nephew asked why we weren’t having cake and I told him that when you got to be my age you didn’t have birthday cake anymore, just pie. I heard him telling his mother he never wanted to be old like me because he liked cake. Oh well, He’s nuch older now, and he says now he gets it.
That’s caramel
Any pie with chocolate. I had a chocolate turtle pie on Sunday that was awesome. Graham cracker crust, Carmen ice cream topping, chocolate mousse with whipped cream topping.
Lemon meringue all the way.
Pecan, pumpkin, and rum cream are my favorite pies. If I had pie as often as I like, I would have a serious weight problem instead of a modest weight problem!
Chicken pot pie with a nice flaky crust and the second is pie crust with butter spread on it, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar-baked to perfection-yum!
My favorite is what’s on my plate. I have never met a pie I didn’t like including raisin. Waving to you from Michigan.
I lobe a good Rhubarb Pie no other fruits added!
I love all kinds of pie–especially strawberry-rhubarb. I love pecan pie but nobody else in the family likes it, so I only have a slice now and then in a restaurant. If I made one I’d have to eat it all by myself. Wouldn’t that be terrible?!
Pie, pie how I love pie!!! I’m a crust lover first, then onto the fillings!!! Peach is my favorite! Others I like are pecan, cherry chocolate!!!
When it’s pumpkin I only eat the crust and my youngest son only likes the filling so we work well together!!!!
Everyday should be pie day!!!
My most favorite pie was my Grandmother’s wild blackberry pie made with little wild Oregon blackberries. My uncle knew the good places in Coos Bay OR to pick the little wild blackberries and we’d bring them back to Grandma’s house and she made the most wonderful pie with them. I sure miss my Grandmother!
Apple Pie and Pumpkin are my favorites!! Then comes Chocolate pie! Lol
Yes the weather here in Virginia has been odd as of late, one day it may Spring and two days later we are down in the low 20’s overnight and 30 that next day! At least here in upper central VA anyway. Stay safe everyone!
I ve never met a pie I didn’t like! :). There’s banana cream, warm apple with ice cream, key lime, lemon meringue, blueberry, cherry and…and….and…. If you have pie and quilting how can you E V E R be in a bad mood? LOL
I have 2 favorite pies. Apple and pumpkin. I really like cherry too.
I actually baked a pie today. It was Harry Truman’s favorite and I first tasted it in a tea room located in a refurbished mill in Liberty, MO. The mill also housed an antique shop and a quilt store…the perfect trifecta!
My favorites are raspberry Cream and peach. Our family on their birthdays get a choice of
cake or pie. All the kids want cake and all the adults want Pie.
My favorite pie is Maple Cream Pie. Living in Vermont for most of my life I appreciate things made with maple. The most famous Maple Cream Pie is found at Trapps Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont.
Appleumpkin! Self created recipe for annual festival in hometown.
I agree cherry pie is the best. I made us one for Valentine’s Day. I use the basic Betty Crocker recipe, but use 2 cans of tart cherries and one can of sweet cherries. It is wonderful!
I love pie better than cake. Key Lime is my favorite.
I love pie better than cake any day…..so hard to choose a favorite. Peach, cocoanut cream (without meringue) and grape pie with crust on top and bottom. Yummy. Cherry can go anywhere in the line up too!! Now I’m hungry for pie!
My favourite pie is pumpkin with rhubarb/apple pie a close second. The quilt with the purple is turning out very cool!
Pecan & sweet potato are my favorites. 😋 Homemade apple comes in 2nd. For my husband it would be my Mom’s lemon meringue which to his sorrow I never learned.
Pie—just pie. Love it, and any kind. We have lived a Keto Lifestyle, so there are adjustments. I make a great Keto Crustless Coconut Cream Pie—even threw in a half of bag of frozen cranberries for a unique taste.
Peach is my favorite pie. Apple and cherry are tied for second. Making the crust is always a challenge for me.
Fresh huckleberry pie—YUMMY!!!
My favorite pie is pecan pie, next is cherry with crust on top and third is french silk with dollops of real whipped cream. I have never been a fan of meringue maybe because my mom just couldn’t get the meringue to set and was always weepy. That was probably because of the humidity because other than that she was an awesome baker.
I have one favorite and it begins and ends with PIE! Okay, if I must choose … Strawberry rhubarb with or without the strawberries and Cranberry
I have 2 favorites. Blueberry and Pumpkin pies.
My favorite pie is pecan made with fresh from my sister’s trees pecans. Also cherry. We had a pie cherry tree growing up. I remember sitting and pitting cherries to put in the freezer for pies later.
My favorite pie is Cherry. It reminds me of my grandma, she had a cherry tree when I was growing up.
I love pie! My favorite is coconut cream pie or German Chocolate pie or… lol. My paternal grandmother’s favorite pie was cherry, so you reminded me of her today, Pat, when you mention that cherry is your favorite pie. 🙂
My favorite pies are pecan or French silk!
