We cousins used to laugh at Granny because she stored her decorated tree in a closet; I now do the same! What a time saver! 🙂
Our Christmas tree is an important part of our holiday and we have a traditional process to dress it. We have many holiday decorations, but we have had years that very few have made it out. If nothing else, we have stockings and our tree. We always have a real tree and there is much ceremony involved in its decoration. We have 4, now adult, children. As many of us as possible go to a local nursery together to choose a tree. It stands in our hall to dry, or thaw, as the case may be, for a day or 2. Hubby and I then move it to our living room, where the stand awaits its arrival. We untie it & let it stand for another day or 2 to allow the branches to drop. Hubby and I then spend an evening together stringing garland & LOTS of lights, steady & blinkers. When the kids were younger, we did this after they were in bed. Then we turn out the lights & sit together in its glow. After the lights, it’s ornament time. We each hang our own collection of ornaments starting the next day – ‘edibles’ and fragiles hang closest to the top, out of reach of our pets. Stories are retold about each ornament’s significance. Since the kids were little, tinsel was hung on Christmas Eve by Santa and his elves.
2 of our 4 children have moved out this summer. Their ornament collections will most likely hang on their own trees this year. There will be some adjustments to our process no doubt, but we will still have our tree.

I remember after the Revolution in Cuba (castro) there were no Xmas trees, as they use to come from USA. So we went to the farm and my mom cut a branch of a tree, painted it white and the ornaments were Magenta with lots of tinsel!! It was beautiful. After my parent s arrived here, my mom always had a big tree and the whole house decorated. They were grateful to live in freedom once again.

Now that I am alone and do not do a big tree, I use the goose feather tree I made years ago. I have faux vintage ornaments that are small that I bought and a small string of lights and some old toys that I put around it. And Love it every much. Over the years we had many different trees, and when living in Oregon usually had live trees. But enjoy the feather tree so much. It is about 2 1/2 feet tall and makes a nice decoration. Love this block. Am back in my house now. Have all the blocks and have found my bundle of fabric, so will be starting my quilt pretty soon. Still lots of boxes to unpack, but making progress, a little each day. RYR
This is sooooo cute! I am going to sit down tonight and make the block AND the table runner, too! Nothing is happier than a pine tree decorated for Christmas!
