My Mystery Block Wednesday is very easy this summer with a very wonderful theme! We'll be chatting about our favorite things on Main Street. Many of you told me you don't have a town, but I bet there is a place, like a plaza or a shop, that everyone gathered. Maybe the local roller rink, or grocery store is where you see your neighbors and catch up on things. That is what we'll celebrate this summer!
THE DOWNLOAD is at the end of my article HIGHLIGHTED IN PINK, so keep reading
In each pattern I have a memory or story of my own. When You share your block at my Facebook group, or when you leave me a comment after posting your block, share YOUR memory with me!
The local 5 & 10 starts off our Main Street Adventures, I can't wait to hear about Main street!
PLEASE READ INFO:
- Blocks are ALL 12.5" for this project
- At the end of ALL my Block Wednesday sew alongs I give you a BONUS layout using multiples of the block.

- Fabrics I'm using are beloe

TIP:
- Some weeks I'll have a tip. The units for this block are interchangeable. So you can decide placement before you sew.
- Make the Half Square Triangle Unit first

I found my answer..lol
HI Pat…Just starting on Block 1 and trying to play catch up. For the light fabric in Block 1…is it the pink color in yardage or the cream color in the FQ? Thanks so much!
We had a five and dime that we could walk to and get penny candy. I remember going there with my brother and sisters when I was 5 years old. We could get a whole bag for 25 cents. That was in the 70’s. Boy how times have changed.
I lived 5 miles outside of town, and we were closer to a place called Miller Hardware. I remember the rows of jars filled with penny candy there. We also had a 5&10 in town and they had everything you could imagine. Great memories goin there with my parents.
I remember several five and dime stores as a young child, but I loved the Ben Franklin store as a teen. I happened to be in my hometown and the Ben Franklin is now an awesome craft store. I bought my background fabric there that I’m using in this project.
We had a store on Main Street that was called Moon’s 5 & Dime. It had a penny candy counter, an automatic horse to ride, I loved the paper dolls at the back of the store, and the life-sized Santa that waved at you in the display window every Christmas! The stores of today just can’t compare. Oh, the memories of a child.
I’ve just joined and looking forward to having fun in this group.
Patti, what fun! I lived to far out in the country to catch a bus so had to wait until Mama made a trip to town. We would go to the drug store & get ice cream or a coke float.
Chris, great memories. The 5 & Dime was always a great place to look around! Loved going there. Mama would buy fabric at different stores so we made the rounds when we went to town. Does anyone remember when JC Penney sold fabric?
Leslie, what great memories! We had a place like that on Main St of my town. I was too small to go without my mom & it was gone when I got to be a teenager. I was so disappointed! Nothing ever compared to eating joints like that. We need them to make a come back!
My Main Street 5&10 was Woolworths. Beautiful wood floors and the most amazing lunch counter. French Fries and gravy and a chocolate malt ! Such wonderful memories 🎈
We all have a ‘main street’ in feel, love your story!
I bet you are Lora!
