I love the block theme day!!…

Block #4 is ‘Meet me at the Drive In!’ .. NOTHING says Summer Time like going to the drive in to the movies! I really hope you share your Drive in memories .. well.. maybe not the ‘racy ones’ during a date…. wink!
Do you still have a drive in near by? there is one near my Mother-in-law, maybe I need to see what’s playing this summer on my next trip there!
This is the point where I now have a few blocks and I can start looking at color placement since I’ve also got the layout. I will add in a few of the dark pink and the awesome gold in the next blocks but not one that sits right under the flower. It’s all about the balance of colors now
Now to make your block and share a photo below at the quilt show, and join my Facebook Group for all the wonderful fun!

I too remember those drive in days. They were wonderful! I remember being at home and so excited to get going. I probably drove my parents crazy asking them “Is it time to go??” Thanks for the memories Judy.
Many of our date nights were going to the Drive in shows. Guys cars were all spiffed up, shiney and awesome to
Look at. Snuggling in the back seat and staying out till 1:30 am sure felt like you were a grown up. Found memories of the big screen movies. Only one show place left in our area now.
I remember the only time I took my grandmother to the Drive-in she liked it and we stayed for the second feature which was Island at the Top of the World. We enjoyed the time we had together and she passed away a year later. There are no more Drive-Ins any where near me now. I do;t think there re many in Queensland at all any more. if so I have not heard of them.
The first drive-in movie I recall seeing was also Top Gun! There is a drive-in not far from where we live now, and we’ve been enjoying seeing a couple movies each summer. It is such a great deal, and lots of fun also!
I have a long history of Drive-in movies. As a kid the drive-in was just across the field the neighborhood kids would sneak across the field and sit by the fence to watch. They had speakers on poles between cars so we could hear. Now its all digital. When our kids were really little we would make a bed for them in the back seat. I think it was our first outing with our first baby when she was a week or 2 old. Last Summer we took our 2 Grands 5 & 7 for there first Drive-in movie Cars3,Second feature was Captain Underpants… They stayed awake for both Movies…lol Its going to be opening in the next month sure sign of spring. We can’t wait.
Hi Pat I saw block #4 on Facebook this evening. I checked my email and did not get your news letter with this block IJust wanted to make sure I’m on your email list I save the email in a folder for the quilt we are working on so I can go back to reread for your great teaching tips.
brings back great Drive-in memories. My dad & mum would let us wear our pyjamas, take our blankets & pillows, we usually fell asleep. We used to go about once a month during the summer, depending what was playing. My parents divorced when I was in my teens (really upset all our family traditions). They have been deceased for quite a few years now. I’m the only one left in my immediate family. My younger brother died in his 40’s (before my parents). This drive-in memory is from my happier childhood years; its a happy family memory.
do ask! yeah.. lots of ideas flowing.. go Sheila!
I love that memory Judy!!
I know we went to the drive in at least once, but I don’t remember much about it. I’ll have to ask mom! I’m doing this quilt about our Adventure Wednesdays, so I have another idea for this block!!! Plus I love that it will be perfect for another quilt I’ve been wanting to do!!! Thank you so much for all you do!!!!
When I was little, a long time ago, my parents took us to the drive in, and before we left my Dad would add blankets to the back seat for the 3 of us to sit comfy. If we fell asleep we would have our bed. Such great memories you brought back to me, Pat Sloan! Of course as I got older it was different, no bed in the back seat!
