Jan 1, 2017… the first page of our new year is so FULL of possibilities! My personal tradition is to be SURE I do a few minutes of ALL the things I want to do MORE of this year. For me that is…

  • Sew sew sew!!! did I mention sew?
  • Take a walk, I want to walk more
  • Take a few minutes to be relaxed, maybe read, look at a book, or just listen to some music. Take some time to let my mine think. I tend to be a go-go-go person and have to force myself to slow down.

The Quilt behind my Question is my new ‘Pinwheel Park’ Layer cake pattern + one fabric pattern, hope you make one!

  1. Basically watching NFL Football on TV with my husband of 59 years. However, for today he has moved my floor stand stitching light downstairs to his man cave and I will be stitching throughout the games.

  2. Today I plan to work on finishing my second sat class quilt for 2016 Amish with a twist can’t wait to see the finish quilt also spend some time helping my 7 year old granddaughter decide what to make from her last trip to the quilt shop and sit in front of the fireplace just enjoy

  3. No stress. No worry. Just resting, relaxing, and enjoying this first day of 2017 in my own simple way… and trying to keep the fire going.

  4. The last year of my mom’s life, we hand pieced a large quilt top in soft colors. It’s been 3½ years now and I decided in the spirit of peacefulness, I’m ready to tackle hand quilting it. So in small nostalgic blocks of time here and there I will work on that quilt. The Splendid Sampler will be another focus of my attention. As will hiking and camping when the weather allows. It’s going to be a peaceful fun year. More doing, and less worrying.

  5. Of course, I plan on doing some sewing. In fact I’m going to work on number 6, from my UFO list. There will be no walking for me today though, we are in the middle of heavy rain and high wind, so it will definitely be an indoor day. So, like you Pat, I’m going to sew, sew, sew!

  6. To sew and organize my area. Encourage a monthly sew in with a couple of quilter friends to finish some of those projects hanging out there . Hope to teach my 8 year old granddaughter how to sew and quilt

  7. plan on working on The Splendid Sampler, Solstice, some philanthropy and reading, walking and cleaning (did I really say THAT).

  8. We finish the season with Three Kings Day next Sunday – that ‘s the day we give presents. Then the 9th it’s down with the decorations. I’ll be sewing today and taking it easy.

  9. I’m up and reading all these posts, I have my second Solstice block to pick fabric out, and I’m waiting for it to warm up a little and get out the door for a quick 5k walk! Happy New Year!

  10. I plan to sew. My g-kids have been here all week, but are leaving today, so I plan to take some me time and just breathe.

  11. I made my two blocks for the solstice challenge yesterday. I’m going to make some rug mugs for friends that I did not finish before Christmas.

  12. After coffee, I made myself take a walk! I really need to do more of this . Helps me clear my mind ,improves my sense of wellbeing, and is good for my health! I easily get distracted if I don’t do what I “want to “instead of what “I have to “do. Making walking a priority. Like brushing my teeth !! Lol 😂 then later after putting away Christmas decorations. I am sewing sewing sewing!! ( I did sew a bit early this morning with my on line quilting buddies!!!)

  13. I have started a small calendar hanging that we are using each month in our quilt guild. Each Program Committee member is creating the simple February appliqué block, demonstrating all different ways to appliqué the same block.

  14. I am cleaning my sewing space and finding forgotten treasures, cleaning my machine and ready to complete one UFO per month.

  15. Happy New Year! I plan to set aside time each day to sew. To be more kind to myself and others. And to take steps to having a healthier lifestyle.

  16. Making quilts for twin great nephews due in May (HOW EXCITING IS THAT??). My #1 dream/goal for 2017 is to actually use some of the rulers I’ve been collecting over the years and finally make a Hunter’s Star (one of my absolutely favorite patterns). Oh boy, also practice more crazy quilting techniques and wool applique…I think I’ll need more than a year!!

  17. My grandmother had a saying: ‘how you spend New Year’s Day is how you will spend the rest of the year’, so I will kick off the New Year with a cardio/weight workout and then some appliqué to hopefully get moving on the quilt I did not finish for the winter season!!

  18. I am tempting a new project I am making a bag by abbylanequilts called Maxwell bag Hope all goes well!!
Of course taking dogs for a walk and back to the gym Tuesday morning.
Begin today to organize my sewing room but will probably take all year
    Happy New Year everyone!!!

  19. I’m so excited my friends and I are doing the blocks together and I’m loving your site. Glad I found it.

  21. I am working on a jelly roll race quilt top. Finished the top last night. Today I am going to work on applique little fishy with bubbles and seaweed. I am hoping this year to learn several new blocks and go outside my comfort zone in color.

  22. Today I start a quilt for the new little one expected in March. I was asked to make this quilt and am very happy to do so. It won’t be my gift to the new little one, but I have ideas of what I’ll get for the new little one.

  23. I plan to Sew, clean, sew, cook, sew, clean, sew and maybe a little sewing…… now what I actually do might be something else……

  24. I will (actually already AM!) cut and sew a mystery quilt today!  The cutting is almost done 🙂
Since I live in Michigan and the sun is out I’ll be going for a walk (once the cutting is all done).
Spend the rest of the day sewing a mysterious quilt together – can’t wait!
    2017 is MY year!

  25. My goal is to finish at least one quilt block every day this year. I have a lot of quilt kits that are collecting dust, so I’m hoping to get some of them out of storage bins and onto beds in 2017.

  26. I am doing a day long mystery quilt and then I will knit. Both are things I love to do. Hopefully, sometime today, I will work on straightening up my sewing room to make me happier in this new year. Oh, and cleaning before the cleaning lady comes tomorrow!

  27. I emailed as per instructions, but just in case I goofed…I am finishing the quilting and binding on six quilts for Project Linus on this beautiful New Year’s Day! Thanks for all the inspiration and a great new site!

  28. I plan on continuing to learn about my new machine so I can keep my brain moving. Learn something new everyday about quilting and the world around me. I will continue to teach 4H quilting I love working with kids especially sewing with them. And now off to the sewing room

  29. I’m doing 2 New Year Day Mysteries and plan on picking out some projects to do on group sewing day on Tuesday

  30. With a new grandbaby due in April, I have a quilt to finish, a knitted blanket almost done, and some other goodies in progress. Besides that, I am determined to master FMQ so I can actually finish some of those many tops that are languishing in the cupboard. And, finally, spend more time with friends and stop being a hermit!

  31. I plan to sew.. we are on vacation, but of course I brought my machine.. plan to keep track of how many “miles” my machine puts on this year. I am working on two table runners, and 3 baby quilts right now. Also need to back 3 “I Spy” quilts.
Looking forward to graduating in May from bible college, and want to be prepared for what God might have in store by graduation

  32. Church first thing, the best way for me to start my 2017! Then sewing the afternoon away, planning my week… Calling some family and friends who need to hear from me!

  33. Today I will sew (of course!) and take down the Christmas decorations. The best to you and your family, Pat!

  34. 2017 I plan to do more landscape quilts. I live in the mountains of New York State and there is so much inspiration!

  35. Well I’ve killed the firearms that decided my porch door was a great place to be after the major rain we got last night. Now it’s off to clean my craft room to make space for more fabric! Good thing DH likes my projects! 😆
