For some reason on the calendar I put block Wednesday on Tuesday… 🤦♂️. I was doing the July calendar after I broke my wrists, so I think maybe I was in a bit of a fog. We'll keep it to the calendar schedule for July 😍

Block #3 – the picnic basket
you do need something to take your picnic in . So the theme for our block today is the picnic basket
in my daily video below I show you one of my vintage picnic baskets , some other fabric options you could use plus the back of the blocks and so many of you like to see that
Fabric:
- I'm using a bundle of Golden Rod FQ bundle a. https://shrsl.com/2dj3q and more options at https://shrsl.com/2dhtw
- You will not use all of the fabric the bundle it is a working bundle and you can pick lights and darks from anything in it because there's plenty of fabric
- I used the background for this block but you can use any fabrics. You don't have to do it exactly like mine, make it your own watch my video for other power options you might like

I just took my Stay at Home quilt to the spa yesterday. There’s a lady that works part time in our local quilt shop and it’s her husband that does the long arm quilting. I was surprised by how affordable it’s going to be. If I was going to do it, I was afraid it would never get finished. I love the way my top turned out and want to bind it, label it and say I actually finished my first quilt!
I have a wonderful long arm quilter here in Australia. I usually only send larger quilts to her “spa” and I quilt smaller items on my domestic sewing machine. When I first learnt quilting, pre rotary cutters and things we take for granted today , I learnt to hand quilt but found it to be a chore. Recently I made a cushion which required a very small amount of hand quilting and I found that I really enjoyed the process. My next small quilt I am going to hand quilt it.As for bigger items the will still go off for a spa treatment.
I send my large quilts to a long arm, but I do enjoy quilting panels and table runners on my domestic machine.
Aww…I have the SAME PICNIC TIN BASKET. You have exceptionally great taste! Love your fabrics and all that you do.
Glad to see that your fingers are doing better. Cannot wait to see those wrist and hands doing better. Enjoy your daily videos so much and really like your sew alongs. Thanks for all you do. Hugs Jackie
I use a SPA for queen size and king size quilts for my family.
I don’t have room to quilt big quilts. I love the great designs of using SPA quilting.
Lately I have been doing baby quilts and twins so I can quilt them myself.
I love making quilts and this facebook group and Pat Sloan.
I love to quilt. Would hate to give all that fun to someone else. Last quilt was soooooo big. I cried and ripped a lot but still its mine.
I would send all my quilts to the SPA, however we do not always have a local LAQ available.
My husband does not like to go on picnics, I gave all my picnic stuff away, so someone else could enjoy a picnic.
Pat I am so glad to see your cast is getting smaller! Gregg is a jewell as well.
I send all my charity quilts to Teresa Yonce. I live in VA and she lives in WV,
however, she comes to 2 different fabric shops each Thursday to “pick up” and returns the next Thurs with your long arm quilted product. Works beautifully and her work is sensational!
Love your videos so inspiring. So glad u are doing better and better. I send our any bed size quilt for spa treatment. Just don’t have the skill or throat space. I do tinker some with small wall hangings and baby sized ones. Hugs to you Pat
For me it’s spa all the way! I know I’m my heart I couldn’t do this any other way.No Patience!! My LAQ is fantastic & she is an uplifting person. Also, I enjoy her cat & dog.
So happy to see you enjoying more movement in your fingers…what a blessing!
I too love aqua fabric and am curious about the one shown with bees. My Dad called me Miss B and I’ve collected bee fabric for a long time; this one I’ve never seen.
My plan is to do all my Going On A Picnic blocks which are easy and so simple with my bee fabrics.
