*** Project ***

My FREE wreath pattern is very quick to do!  And I must say I gave myself a challenge with this one that I'll explain below.  The Fat Quarter Shop's button club kit is called 'Jolly' so I used the letters on the sashing! Then decorated the wreath with the super cute buttons.

My Pattern Download is after my tutorial below along with the fabrics and supplies I used

*** Fabric ***

  1. I started with this Fat Quarter bundle of Winterberry
  2. There were so many cute options! The text print is amazing.  But I had to narrow it down to what you see in the final quilt. leaving me lots to use for something else!

*** Tutorial for bow center***

  1. The center of the bows are done 'Sew and Flip'. Draw a diagonal line on the back of the bow center fabric. I used a iron away frixon pen
  2. Or you can use your guidebeam built into your Babylock machine like I do with my Solaris
  3. Sew ON the line

  1. Press open the unit and check it lines up with the full square so you know it's sewn perfectly
  2. Using the trimming ruler, place the line on the seam
  3. Trim

*** Creativity ***

The time honored phrase 'Necessity is the mother of Invention' holds true for quilt designer too!

Because of the size fabric I had, and the need to make this now and not purchase more fabric, I had to get creative with my side triangles!

*** Tutorial Side Setting triangles***

  1. Cut the Side Squares in Half
  2. Sew the red strip to the bottom it will be longer then the triangle (sorry i didn't get a photo of that step, the pattern has a diagram)
  3. Press the side unit in half and crease it for placement

  1. Thanks, Pat for all your great patterns and tutorials! I’ve tried locating the quilt pattern for the quilt that hangs behind you, in the photo for your blog. I love English Paper Piecing, so much that I hardly ever machine sew anymore!!! Think this would be a great pattern for EPP. My second love is finding patterns that are traditional machine stitch and use them for EPP. I have a Cricut Maker and use it cut cardstock for the quilts, and sometimes use the cutter to cut fabric as well. Sure alot easier than rotary cutting!!!

  2. Your daily videos bring a smile to my face at the end of the day. Have been trying to access your free wreath pattern, which you just hung on your great red front door, but the download does not come up. Any helpful hints or can you provide me with a link? Thanks for your help.
