If you didn’t know yet, my FREE Wed quilt Block, which is posted here at I Love To Make Quilts, is an ongoing project. I am grouping each set of blocks under a theme so that we do ‘x’ number of blocks that go into one quilt. The first that you are following is 182 days to make a quilt, the Solstice is 25 blocks.

The next Wed quilt starts June 28th and I will post the theme in an article very soon.. but today..let’s wrap up The Solstice!6a00d8341c976153ef01bb09a2bc79970d.jpg

I don’t know who is more excited about block 25… you or me! It’s called Summer Rose and is a traditional Rosebud quilt block. I am enjoying writing a weekly journal for the pattern, hope you love my ‘dive into summer’ journal this week!

With the overwhelming ‘Yes!’ to my coloring pages for doing quilt color auditions, I have another for you.

…….keep reading to see my finds this weeks deals…

I did a simple side by side, which is super easy to line up as NONE of the points touch where the blocks meet… fun right?  I also flipped the coloration on alternate blocks. It’s a super block for scrap busting both your lights & your darks.

BIG NEWS I created the FULL QUILT gallery at our home page at the bottom!! You can post your full quilt tops & finished quilts as soon as you make this one and sew those sections together.. I cant’ wait to see your quilts!

  1. Don’t give up! I was four blocks behind and just got to them as I had time. Finished the last block tonight and tomorrow going to pit a sheet down outside and play with layouts in the sun light.

  2. Really enjoyed the series. I printed all the patterns but haven’t worked on them yet. You really inspired me to quilt and I have been working on many of my projects so I can get to your patterns. I have 5 quilt tops finished and waiting to be quilted. I like looking at the photos others submit because sometimes I see color and/or pattern combinations that I wouldn’t have thought of which are spectacular.

  3. Thank you, Pat, for such a great series of blocks. I have a lot of catching up to do, but I will definitely be finishing this. Your directions are so easy and your blocks were amazing…loved them all!

  4. I can add to everyone’s comments. I have so loved this weekly series. All my blocks are made except the setting ones. They will be finished this week. Mine is in 2 colors … teal and white and I love it. Your directions are so precise and error-free, it makes me do a happy dance. So frustrating when I try something and it’s incorrect and, for a change, not because of me. You are such an excellent teacher and I love your designs and fabrics. You’ve made this 80 year old lady very happy …

  5. Thank you for this project. I thought I could keep up on a weekly basis, but life got in the way and getting a block done kept getting put off. I did download all the blocks so I can hopefully do this quilt before the end of the year. I have enjoyed seeing the new block each week. I hope to get into my stash to complete it.

  6. I have loved following the Group and seeing everyone’s beautiful work. I actually finished a UFO – a quilt for a friend started on 2008, so I did get inspired.
    Happy quilting everyone.

  7. Thank you for all you do for us. This project was so much fun. You inspire us with your talent and willingness to share.

  8. Thanks so much for this inspiring project – you got me back into quilting! Love your teaching style. It led me to purchase 3 of your books.
    Looking forward to June 28!

  9. I’m done, I’m done, I’m done!!! Well at least with the top, photo to come when I can get my DH to hold it up. Thank you Pat for this great adventure and I am looking forward to starting with you for the Summer Solstice. This time I am going to try QAYG for my learning experience!!

  10. Thanks so much for this Solstice BOW. It has been tremendous. Not only have I used up some of my stash, but it has given me an opportunity to share and sew with a friend. Can’t wait to see what you come up with on June 28.

  11. Thanks so much for the Solstice Blocks. You have kept me sewing kept me sewing most
of Winter and Spring. But Summer has come. But the flower beds and vegetable gardens need my attention. I have a few more blocks to do and I will have my Christmas Quilt I have always had on my List. 90 degree days are coming , so I will resew again.

  12. Ok, I’m frozen in time…I do not see setting instructions. Am I looking in the wrong place??? Had fun keeping up with solstice block!

  13. Hola Pat Sloan. Saludos.

  14. Hi Pat, I’m abit confused as I don’t see blocks # 16 – 19 in the layout pattern. What do I do, or better yet, what did you do with those?
    Thanks!

  15. Pat, I had signed up to do the Solstice Challenge and along the way ended up with quite a lot of family health problems and have not had the opportunity to catch up. How long will you keep these blocks up for those of us who have signed up or should I just move right into the next set of blocks? Hopefully, this time around everything will go along smoothly!

  16. This quilt is one of the few I have kept up with. I just love asymmetrical placement and blocks! Spectacular! Such fun.

  17. I have enjoyed this challenge so much, and am looking forward to the next one – thank you so much Pat

  18. Hi Pat. I am so happy with the Winter Solstice Challenge and I absolutely love the last block, Summer Rose. I have always wanted to make a large quilt with this block and now I must do it! I am glad you are doing another weekly sew along. I have managed to use a lot of my stash. Still have tons! Love it. Charlotte
