A childhood memory, that really has stayed in my mind, probably around age 11 or so, is how the neighbour girl and myself set out to ‘visit’ Carolyn Keene – author of the Nancy Drew Books :)! We had looked in our local phone book, and found quite a few addresses with that name and were setting out on our bikes to see which one was the author. Thankfully our local milkman, who was just out delivering his milk on our street that day, asked us where we were off to. When we explained – he told us, how that author name was just a ‘pseudonym’ – and that there were many authors responsible for those books. We were so disappointed, but he sure saved us from a lot of embarrassment and miles of bike riding that day – and introduced us to a valuable piece of information!
