****  May Daily Sew Along  ***

I've always wanted to do a quilt with a color-wash of the shades of the Rainbow.  And you know I love a HST.. so.. This is it!!! if you really really really don't like a HST, then just use squares.. hey… why not!

We will make either 4 or 6 Half Square Triangles each day and start sewing them in units so that by May 31 we can just finish and add the borders. I am SO excited to dig into my fabrics for this one and really have fun.

**** One Day Sew for Hope ***

My friend Gudrun is amazing, she is hosting another 1 day sew along and this time she has a pattern to purchase with ALL the pattern income going to three charities.

  •  Hope Breakfast Bar St. Paul: Making hundreds of meals daily for anyone that requests one and delivering them to the communities in need.

  • Girl Scouts River Valleys Cookies For A Cause: Purchasing cookies and delivering them to the organizations on the front lines of the COVID-19 response. Proceeds will help girls to reach their cookie goals and fund Girl Scouts financial assistance program so they can bring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to all girls.

  • Chefs Feed Our Front Lines: Campaign to provide healthcare workers a meal while putting local chefs and cooks back to work. Daily deliveries are made providing lunches for healthcare workers in the Minneapolis metro.

Gudrun invited me to sew along and come on her live show on May 3, what an honor!! I hope you will join us, even if you can't sew that day just buy the pattern to support these great charities

**** Jolly Bar Sew Along ***

This is going to be such a fun sew along!  It's a row a week and they are easy and fast using a Jolly bar. Which are 5" x 10" precuts. You can also do with half a layer cake, but why not try a Jolly bar!

We'll make blocks from each quilt in the Jolly Bar 2 for this darling sampler.

  1. The Magical Quilt May Calendar sounds like such a fun and creative way to stay inspired all month long! It’s always refreshing to see communities come together around shared passions. And speaking of creativity and self-expression, some people also explore aesthetic options like Juvederm in League City, TX.

  2. Hi I love you videos but at this time I am trying to finish quilting my 2nd of 4 quilt tops that I started 4 months ago for family. I am not much into Cross stitch but I do do hand embroidery I used to do a lot and also do fabric painting on embroidery designs also but have not had much luck keeping the paints flowing. Thank you so much for your time doing these. Joyce Wetherbee

  3. My last quilt to gift went to my little sister for her new queen bed in her new 5th wheel camper. She loves purple and lime so the ‘Nash’ pattern was perfect to use every purple and green in my stash. A great remnant or stash buster.
I am creating a queen size rainbow from a geometric print layer cake. The colors are not your bright rainbow tones, rather morr like hues between colors in mauve, hot pink, light pink, gold, orange, coral, peach, line, mint, aqua. Deep green, teals, light and medium blue, royal, deep purple. It sounds awefull but Is working since it came in a layer cake

  4. I love precuts! I’m still collecting ways to use them, so it is more accurate to say, “I LOVE to stash precuts!” LOL! But, I finally have more time on my hands, and as my son has pointed out, I’m doing a lot more sewing. 🙂 I’m joining in on the May SAL. My 11 year old son has always loved Rainbows, so I am going to have him help me with color selection and fabric placement for the May Rainbow SAL. I downloaded and printed the calendar for May, so excited to have it and be able to follow along and participate!

  5. Howdy, from Lamar, Colorado. I have been watching you on your site. Joining in with May projects, thank you so much!

  6. I’ve been enjoying the Stay at Home Quilt along and might make another quilt with smaller blocks using a CHARM PACK, which I love to use. Love you Dailies and challenges too.

  7. I’m way behind, been sewing face masks – just caught up with all the videos since March. Happy to hear there will be another daily visit with Pat! I’ll be keeping up with the videos in May but making April’s quilt.

  8. I am enjoying my daily sewing time with you. I will definitely be with you in May, too. I am pleased with how my room has gotten a bit more organized so I can now have access to everything. Another thank you; I appreciate that you have kept your cooking ‘fun’ on a separate page. Cooking is never ‘fun’ for me. Ever! I’d rather be sewing and I don’t like to mix the two.

  9. I enjoyed watching your April 27, 2020 video, it is my first, but not my last. Excited about May projects.
The Moda CHARM PACK you showed would be a great addition to a Quilt of Valor. I do love to make those. My last charm pack project was an over sized crib quilt for our new g-granddaughter(November,2019).
    Safe safe.

  10. I ordered the CrossStitch pattern but received a message that I will get my order in 10 to 15 days. It is a download. Can you help, Pat?

  11. Wow! Just Wow! I am the tortoise among the hares here but that is okay – I am loving it all! Practice makes perfect, right? Just ordered the Jolly Bar Book and will dive in – so CUTE! I have been successful in watching every daily video and now it is getting to the point that my husband gets up in the morning and asks, “Did you watch Pat yet?” Then he puts the YouTube on the TV and watches with me. 🙂 Thank you for the inspiration!

  12. I’m planning to do all the things. May is going to be a happy month with so many projects. No boredom for sure. I have everything for them all except the jolly bar book, and I just ordered it. WooHoo!

  13. Looking forward to a a magical May, so many projects to choose from, for sure the rainbow quilt!
Thank you for your organizational skills💛

  14. Just wanted to give a big THUMBS UP for this. (wish they had that here. lol)
My mom was also my Girl Scout leader. I, too, buy cookies every year!

  15. I love your May Rainbows quilt (and the Magical Quilty May name). I have kept up with the April Sew Along except for sewing the rows together as I completed them. They are on my design wall just in case I have last minute rearranging before sewing together. I will definitely do the May one too.
Thank goodness there are really creative people like you who can always top their previous ideas to keep us inspired.
And thanks for giving us another month. I know it can’t go on forever but I sure am enjoying it while it lasts!

  16. I am all set for the HOPE sew along…except that I keep changing my mind on the fabric!!! So, guess I am not really all set!! Excited, though!! I love your daily videos–they keep me on track, brighten my day, and tell me which day it is!! Love that and need that help these days!! Thanks so much. I am not sure if I will do the cross stitch…looks great, though. I just might jump onboard. I love seeing you each morning!! Thank you so much–like someone mentioned above, we know it is extra work for you. Please know that it helps so much and is greatly appreciated!!!!! Hugs!!!

  17. Excited for May, but because I’m working to finish my daughters wedding ring quilt, I decided to just do your Feels Like Home cross stitch project for May. Thanks for keeping us inspired!

  18. Love Stay At Home 2, I did a diagonal rainbow for the first one, so hmmm… I guess one can never have too many rainbows 🙂

  19. Hi Pat, I didn’t have girls but i had 2 boys that were boy scout. one that was an Eagle Scout. Made the Indian outfit with Bead work too. When I was little I was in Girls Friendly, the Episcopal Church;s equivalent of Girl Sclouts. At 7 years i taught the girls how to Embroidery. i has did it from the age of 3 1/2 when i wpuldn’t leave the guild ladies alone. Mom drew a picture and taught me to straight stitch along the lines to make the first one. Each meating the ladies taught me a new stitch. I still have my first aquares that i need to put together and put on my fuest room bed with my

  20. I downloaded the rainbow quilt pattern. I really enjoy half square triangles. I also called a neighbor who is not a quilter. Had a nice visit with her. Had tried another friend who is a quilter but got her voice mail. Will try her again later when my husband gets off the phone talking to a friend of his.

  21. I have always wanted to do a ‘rainbow quilt’ so I am definitely on board for this one. Today is catch-up day on Charming Baby Sew Along before I get too far behind. Thanks Pat for your ongoing encouragement and inspiration.

  22. I have never done this type of pattern before. I have downloaded the pattern and looking forward to making it. Thanks again Pat. You make our day.

  23. It is certainly going to an exciting May! I downloaded the May Rainbow and can’t wait to get started. Half square triangles are my favorite ones.

  24. I downloaded the Rainbow quilt along pattern and I donated to get Gudrun’s pattern. I’ve ordered the Jolly Bar 2 book, hoping it makes it here in time to start also the background fab using your link to FQS. I don’t know if I’ll do the quilt along or Gudrun’s, but I’ll have the patterns.

  25. I downloaded the May Rainbows, and the Gudrun’s Hope although I will be working on the actual sew day. Looking forward to more sewing in Magical May!

  26. So excited for Magical May! I’m all ready for Gudrun’s HOPE sew day, even though I haven’t finished Elvira. I ordered Girl Scout cookies and they should arrive this week. I was a GS growing up, and my mom was always the troop leader (so I have to have GS cookies every year). Can’t thank you enough for continuing these dailies. I know they’re extra work for you, and I appreciate all of your effort. Take Care

  27. Yes love rainbows and HST’s so I get out my 5” precuts and sew away . I also have a light cream for background . I’ll will be doing the Hope quilt too as I sign up last week for it with Halloween fabric. So much fun in May.

  28. Called a friend who taught brownies and Girl Scouts with me in the early 80’s. It was her birthday, #71. Looking forward to the May Jolly Bar Row Challenge. Thanks for all your encouragement and sharing your knowledge. Mary Jean Eisenga.
