Today we get to the nitty gritty of what a kitchen is all about.. one element of food prep, the recipe!

Let’t just say my family is not well known for their cooking.. Even though I know MANY of you have Grandma’s  that could compete on Top Chef and beat everyone.. my family.. not so much.

Today I honor the most loved Recipe Box. In my family my step mom is our best cook, and I am not a bad runner up.

My personal recipe box is not fancy. This is maybe box #3 I’ve had over the years. Most of my collection of recipes are in notebooks made up of magazine pulls, newspaper clippings & printed recipe sheets from company newsletters (yes.. we posted awesome recipes in them!). They are from friends, from places online, from publications I read over the years.

Being a cook in the internet age is so totally different than when my mom, grandma, and great grandma’s cooking experience. They could not flip open their phone or tablet and hunt up something cool for dinner.

I pulled several of the hand written recipe cards out, most I have no idea who wrote them. Friends I suspect. If you give a hand written card, Please put your name on it!

  1. My first quilt was a lap quilt. Then I made 4 baby quilts all while working on a cal king quilt which I just finished. I think I just want to make lap quilts from now on! 😀 Oh and your blocks if course!

  2. I’ve gotten three weeks behind! DD is here, 8months pregnant so have been busy getting the basement ready for them. Her significant other will be back in time for baby, but until then it’s just me helping her. Today found me painting the room. Have been desperate to get some seweing time in, so just put block 8 together. Need to do some decorative stitching now, but I love this apron block. Both grandmas and mom always wore an apron, which I still have many of them.

  3. Will you be showing us how to put the squares together? I have enjoyed making all the blocks and thank you so much for showing us how to put the quilt blocks in different ways.
