***Summer Soiree… Mystery Sew Along Details***
If you are just joining me, hi friend! This sew along theme is inspired a 'Summer Soiree'.
soi·rĂ©e /swĂ€ËrÄ/
"The definition of a soirée is a gathering or get-together, especially a posh or elegant one. A soiree is an elegant and intimate affair. It is an evening party held in a private house. While ambient music plays, guests engage in a variety of private conversation."

***How do I get notified? ***
- Sign up to get notices of my videos https://www.youtube.com/user/PatSloan?sub_confirmation=1
- ENTER YOUR EMAIL to get the weekly notice
- NOTE – If you already Receive the Block Wed emails you are set.
- What is a Fat Quarter? A fat quarter is half of a 1/2 yard of fabric cut WIDE so it is 18" x 20"
- Can I use fabric that is not a FQ? Sure! this is meant to use up what you have with a bit added.
- Can I use Stash (fabric I own) - Yes! Pull out a bundle of beautiful fabric
- Will I use all the fabric - Not all of it. This is to give you variety, more is better!
- Can you show me the blocks in advance? No, it's a mystery
- What are the Technique? - All Easy Pieced.
- NOTE: The Blocks do NOT LOOK like the topic of the week. This is not a pictorial quilt. I do a topic as it is way more fun than just plopping out a block. I love the memories and sometimes research that goes into the topic. That keeps my Sew alongs fun and unique.
***Fabric I'm using***
I'm using the Figs & Shirtings fat quarter bundle + background fabric from my friend Joanna. You will have some left over. I am so excited about using this fabric! I love that splash of black!
You do not have to use the same fabric as me. You can use any fabric you like
- Figs & Shirtings fabric, pick up your favorite for backing! - https://shrsl.com/2ymo4
- Background for Summer Soiree https://shrsl.com/2ymo6
I'm also using this book as we go along for tips and ideas!

I love your daily chats, and I have been a fan of Reese Witherspoons for a few years. When I went to order her book that you talk about (Whiskey in a Teacup), a posting came up for a song by the same name by Dean Brody. I’m wondering if this is where she got the title for her book. It follows the same theme; it’s a cute song (even though I don’t drink). Of course, it has drinking in it…it’s a country song! Lol
last big party was baby shower at local chop house for my daughter. First post Covid get together.
Just downloaded blocks 1 and 2. Gonna give this a try-now to pick fabrics from stash.
Not sure if this would work: Subtract 1/2â seam allowance from each measurement and then divide by two. That would maybe give the size of the finished piece for a 6â block, and you would then have to add the seam allowance to each measurement. This works for squares but not always for rectangles and not always for âstitch and flipâ pieces.
If anyone interested to Patâs old patterns. One could go to library look at the archives. Our library had old magazine in a bound to preserve the magazines. Good luck.
I have a 30 pc bundle of scarlet and sage, I this enough fabric?
Love this block!! Excited to party each week with Pat! đ
Pearls, polka dots and playing with fabric – party on!
Pat, your intellectually thoughtful approach to design, in addition to your jâoi de verve soirĂ©e is a delightful end to this day.
Love the blocks being shared!!!
Pat, you are so generous! Thank you.
Hi. Finish my first block. Used Homestead fabric by Moda. Designer April Rosenthal. Great colors. Only Thirthy fat quarters in pack. Will add few other sold colors.
Hey Pat,
Just wondering if a pack of ten inch squares would work for the summer soiree
Love this! Thank you, Pat, for all the time and energy you put into these sew alongs! They are always so fun!!!! Twinkle lights it is!! Time to go sew!!! Great tips in your video, too! You are adorable AND inspiring!!!!
I did not designer it for a layer cake.
I’m using 18 x 20″ fabric, that is much larger than a 10 x 10. You can start with it and add to it, see how far you get.
No that does not work. You will need to redraft each pattern
the download of the supply list is right in this post, go look
you are so welcome!
Got my material from loti holt collection, Bee cross stitch by Riley Blake Designs
I love how you always include a bonus pattern so we can envision a quilt made just of the one block featured.
I think that I must have missed the fabric requirements for this. I want to make sure I have enough for the entire quilt before I cut Block 1.
Might be a silly question, but if i would rather do six inch blocks, would i reduce all the measurements buy half?
My daughter is getting married in October and on each table will be a small vase with twinkle lights (fairy lights). Around the base will be flowers. She is so creative.
Will there be enough material in a layer cake to make the blocks for this quilt SAL? I guess my question is, will one 10â square be enough for a block? I have yardage for the background as well as some low volume 10â squares that can also be used as background in the pack. I really want to use what I have and not order more. I donât have any fat quarter bundles that will work but I have lots of layer cakes and lots of charm squares. Thanks for doing this QAL. Looks like a lot of fun!
Love the first block with the friendship star
So excited to get this party started!!! Twinkle lights always get me, too – so what a perfect way to kick off!
Love your block. Excited to get started.
Love the first block!
