  1. Pat, thank you for the traffic jam pattern. Loved having an idea to use up some scraps. Not sure I can figure it out by myself, but would love to make one similar that I’ve seen called Granny Squares, only without losing the points like I saw online. I’m sure there is a way. Keep up the great work.

  2. Pat, I am participating in a “Scrap Fest” in my local Guild next month.I am bringing tubs of scraps to share. I am challenging a few of my quilting buddies to make “Traffic Jam” blocks for our Community Service Bee. Thank you for all you do!!!!

  3. All the responses sound so great, I so want to get on to a Traffic Jam as I am sure I have enough scraps. Alas, woe is me, my machine foot pedal died on Saturday (picture sad face). Repair shop is open today so I will take it to find out if it is repairable or not, praying for repairable. Until then, happy scrappy sewing to you all.

  4. Here is my tragic jam top. I can’t sew them together yet as we’re are moving on Friday is the proposed closing date. Today is Jan 6. I hope I can still be in the drawing. Im doing quilt as you go. Well I’ll post the photo somewhere else

  5. I love scrappy quilts! Traffic Jam is a perfect, quick & easy, and fun kind of scrappy. I am in the process of reorganizing my scraps, and my goal is a scrappy happy creatively productive year for 2020. Thank you for sharing this pattern with us. And I’m looking forward to “Childhood Games”. Happy New Year!

  6. Thank you so much for sharing the pattern Pat , I enjoy your patterns it’s nice to get a a kindness sent our way 😊

  7. Pat, I have all my blocks cut since last week. I couldn’t work on it this week as , 1. My water heater busted on New Year’s Day at 2:30 in the morning, and 2. Same day, my furnace went on the fritz. 🙁 Furnace is now fixed, and we just got back from picking up a new water heater.

  8. Just recently found you on you tube. I very much listening to your chats, and will be joining you on your Parking Lot quilt, and look forward to the Children’s Games project. Have lots of cutting to do tomorrow. Thank goodness for my AccuQuilt Big!

  9. Thank you Pat. I found the fabric I want to use and plan to cut squares and borders tomorrow. Is there anything I need to do to be ready to sew? Do I come to the website for more instructions? I’ve made quilts on my own, but not in a group like this. Thanks so much!.

  10. Going to be working on Traffic Jam as quilts for our local children’s hospital. Will be ready to start with you on my first one. I hope to make several from this pattern in 2020. I donated 35 quilts on December 16th this year!

  11. Yippeeee my box full of 2.5 blue and white squares have found a quilt! Thanks so much for this free pattern Pat 🙂 Cant wait to get started!

  12. I think this might just help me to rediscover my quilting mojo. Ive had a year of cross stitch and papercraft so I think its time to return to the squishy side.
I just hope I have enough fabric, my stash is pretty miniscule compared to some Ive seen. I shall have a rummage, clear the decks and start cutting shapes. See you in 2020 folks!

  13. I am so excited about this. I was getting ready to just get rid of a whole bunch of small pieces because I was not sure what to do with them and wanted to make room for the new year of scraps. So Pat, your timing could not be better. THANK YOU!

  14. Spent an afternoon this week going through my scrap bins and used my accuquilt to cut blocks. Have a good headstart but have a couple more colors to go through. This will definately get me started with a clean start for the new year!

  15. I have all of my 2.5 and 4.5 inch squares ready to go! I am using reds for the smaller squares and cream for the larger squares. I have the 9 blocks laid out on 18 x 18 inch design boards that I made from cardboard and covered with white fleece. It’s such a great way to stay organized and to look at my evolving quilt! Can’t wait for Jan. 1st!!

  16. I need to finish something, anything. I’ve been working on organizing the clutter and I can hardly see any progress, although I know that I’ve made progress.

  17. Pat and others, I think that the “Traffic Jam” quilt is going to be fabulous!! I have so much fabric, that will help to make a tiny dent in it. lol Looking forward to January 1st. I am so excited. I probably have the date wrong as I get so mixed up. I need those binders that hold everything so you can plan your day, week and month out—-oh, that is what they are called Planners. I do have my quilt room all cleaned up. Boy, it is like having a breath of fresh air after someone puts their hands around your nose and mouth at the same time!! Sure do have tons of plastic containers—all sizes though!! lol
Hoping you had a very blessed Christmas and a very Happy New Year, Pat and hubz xoxoxo

  18. I have a box of 2 1/2 in squares that were mom’s. I am using them for Traffic Jam and black for the solid color. It will be very scrappy! Looking forward to it!

  22. I am looking forward to making a couple traffic jam quilts – one darker using up older thimbleberries scraps and one very bright using up scraps from various quilts for grandchildren. This pattern is awesome to use up scraps quickly. I then can donate to a local shelter. Thank you!

  23. Can’t wait to start the traffic jam quilt. The mystery quilt sounds awesome too. It is like having a sew in with friends. Thanks for all you share with us it is sooooo appreciated.

  24. SO you motivated me to organize and clean out my scrap bins–cutting them into usable squares but fell in love with my green batch!! SO I am working on traffic Jam as I go!!! 25. I’ve already started cutting some scraps based on your tutorial of dealing with organization but I have plenty more to cut! I’ll get started this week. Really excited since this is my first sew along.

  26. I haven’t made a quilt in decades. I have many many scraps. I need help with colors please. Thank you. I’m going to start cutting squares asap, once I figure what colors I need. Any ideas? I know scrappy isn’t really planned, right? I’m nervous, can you tell?

  27. I have a lot of scraps! Not only mine, but also my mother’s from years of sewing! I love having a quilt where you can pick out that fabric from the dress your mother made you when you were a little girl or the first pair of pjs you made for your little boy. Having a scrap quilt is like having a tangible memory in front of you!

  28. I’m looking forward to beginning the year with the Traffic Jam quilt.i have the perfect layer cake, but I’m going to try to go scrappy this time! Out of my comfort zone!

  32. looking forward to the child hood game blocks since I just cleaned attic and found several old games when we were small: hands down, chitty chitty bang bang, etc. Can’t wait for both. Thank You Pat

  33. This will be a great way to start the year. I’ll be using 2″ blocks and 3 1/2″ blocks because I have these cut up in my Joan Ford “Cut The Scrap” collection. Thanks for the encouragement to start the year off with a fun project.

  34. I am sew ready for Traffic Jam. I have my scraps ready. My plan for 2020 is to make scrap quilts only as I am running out of space. I have aways been able to count on Pat to come up with what I need. Many thanks Pat.
