  1. I’m excited and scared at the same time about quilting. I have never done any quilting, however, I have your book and you as the teacher so I’m ready to give it a try. I am going to do a row at a time due to not having any rows sewn together.

  2. I broke my wrist and a bone in my hand so slow progress right now on Grandma’s Kitchen. I hope to catch up at some point but cutting is very hard right now with one hand……It’s sounds like everything will be on your blog so K hope to follow it and try quilt as you go.

  3. This is the push I need, so looking forward to it (but still intimidated 🙂 I’ve done fmq few times (loops) and because they didn’t turn out perfect, I haven’t gone back to it. Time to get over it and try again.
I got your book and used your dresden plate pattern for a Christmas pillow yesterday in ‘Berry Merry’-love it.

  4. This is so exciting Pat. I am getting prepared for the journey. You are a great teacher and I love your style. Let’s do this!

  5. Cathy.. breath… relax… this is fun..not work.
1- Many people are sewing along and for those ready to think about this..I’m putting it in motion. Join in when you can
2-everything I do is here at my website
3-You can hurry if you want to sew with me.. i don’t have a date for next part.. this is organic. I’m not in a hurry but I see no need to wait until January to start quilting the first 2 rows
4-I have no idea if I’ll do video .. i’ll decide as I go along. I might
5-the QAYG part is a BONUS and it will be here at my blog
    Does that help?

  6. There is really never ONE right way to do anything Kathleen. I’m always trying different ways to find what works best for me.
When I quilt as you go I do SECTIONS.
For Grandma’s Kitchen I’ve sewn the TOP TWO rows together to quilt first.
    Does that makes sense?

  7. Hi Barbara!
    I wrote this above

The QAYG is a BONUS I’m giving. The quilting part I use what is in my book and the extra will be joining.
    Does that make sense?

  8. I have quilted as I go, years ago. I have forgotten most of it, Will I be able to figure it out by watching your video on Quilting?

  9. I would like to quilt along. I am way behind after a month in Oregon. I took my fabric and a machine. I thought for sure I could keep up. Now after getting back to Nevada I’m in a flare and feel like …….. hopefully I will get back into block making again soon. I was doing so well.

  10. I have your teach me to machine quilt book but it doesn’t cover quilt as you go. Did I miss something? I don’t see anything about how to join the quilted rows together.

  11. I bought your book thinking the quilt along wouldn’t start until after the sew along was done. After watching your video last night and reading this post I’m getting the impression it is going to start right away. Will those of us who wanted to wait until the sew along is done to make sure we are happy with our blocks and placement still be able to access the quilt along? Or do we have to hurry up and get those first two rows sewn together so we can follow along? Is the quilt along going to be written instructions or on video? I know this probably sounds like I’m stupid but I just want to be prepared to do whatever I need to do and not miss anything. Thanks.

  12. I just bought an 1896 Singer 27 treadle and the shop I took it to for service called to tell me it’s ready! I’m sew excited to pick her up & bring her home. I’ve been saving all of the Grandma’s Kitchen blocks and I think I’m going to piece the blocks on this new lady in my life.
Since I have your Machine Quilting book, I think I’ll use your book and quilt it on my Pfaff Creative Vision. A blend of old & new…

  13. When I get ready to baste a quilt, I use a tack gun to baste. But I watched this and I was surprised you didn’t start in the middle and work your way out. I was taught that was the way to do it and I was do it that way. But the way you did it was a whole lot easier. Also when you quilt as you go, you do a whole row at a time? I just ordered your book btw. I have always hand quilted everything and now am not able to do that anymore and I don’t want to give up quilting because I love it.
