** Sweet Childhood Memories! Block #2**

What is a great childhood without a Best friend?  Sharing our adventures with a Bestie created the best memories, and maybe got us into a little trouble too..haha!   The first 'Best Friend' i can remember was Mindy.

Tell me about your Childhood Bestie when you share your block.

  1. Instructions are on Pat’s web page and you can see her fabric selection process and finished blocks on her YouTube page. Kendall’s YouTube site has a sewing demonstration for constructing the block. The locations complement one another.

  2. By making a flying geese unit, the print on the fabric is not interrupted. If your print is tiny, an interruption should not be as noticeable, and you can change the pattern if you prefer HSTs. For larger scale prints, stripes, large dots, solids, etc. you would probably prefer the flying geese unit in your finished quilt.

  3. On Kendall’s YouTube page showing you how to sew the blocks in Pat’s Sewalong. Pat provides the patterns on her blog/website. Kendall does the videos with Pat’s blessing.

  4. My best friend was Susan and I think we met in the 3rd grade of our country school in Medinah IL. She was tall and I was very short. I loved hanging with Susan because she was so artistic and she loved to draw horses! I was the oldest of 5 and always responsible for watching all of my brothers and sisters so there wasn’t a lot of kid time or play time in my week. When I was invited to Susan’s house there were no “little kids to watch” and she had a pool and we always had lots of fun. It was a respite from my everyday life! We remained best friends until I moved away Freshman year but still stayed in touch. We were in each other’s weddings but life happened and we lost touch. I believe she passed away a few years ago.

  5. My best friend I met in 3rd grade. In her school class picture she had this pink dress her grandma made her, then the next year she wore it for her 4th grade picture. She moved away that year and never saw her agine until we were in high school. She moved back to Anaconda. We were the best of friend and we still are 48 years later!

  6. One of my New Year Resolutions was to watch your daily videos! I am really enjoying keeping up with you on a daily basis. A question … why would you/wouldn’t you use two half square blocks put together rather than making a flying geese? Thank you!

  7. My best friend growing up was my cousin Linda. I and my 17 first cousins (mother’s side)all lived in the same neighborhood and played together every day. Linda had red curly hair and longed for brown, straight hair like mine. I, of course, wanted her hair! We went to an elementary school nearby – we had to walk “up hill both ways” as they say. It was called Tinker Creek Elementary after a tiny creek bubbling near by. There was one room per grade. The library was in the hall. The auditorium was also used for the first grade classroom. Linda was a year ahead of me, and they allowed me to visit school with her occasionally. I wanted to go to school so much! I know, weird huh? We loved each other like sisters. Good times!

  8. Confused about where the “Sweet Childhood Memories” quilt along is. On Kendal Taylor’s website or Pat’s sew along?

  9. PAT,
WHEN YOU FINISH A QUILT, DO YOU DATE THE DAY YOU FINISHED THE TOP OR WHEN YOU FINISH THE QUILTING AND BINDING? I NEVER CAN DECIDE HOW TO DATE IT.
    THANKS,
    SUZIE

  10. The Amazon link takes you directly to kitchen storage items. Just saying in case there’s a link directly those magazine/pattern holders you showed.

  11. Regarding organization of patterns – I also use clear sleeves and put in three ring binders. I seem to collect patterns like I do fabric!!!
